At the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, there was a saying of "four monks together", "four monks" refers to the four monks who painted outside the river, the remnant, the eight greats, and Shi Tao, and the "one" is Fu Shan, a person from Zhuyi Taoist. Fu Shan has carried out serious research in the academic fields of classics and history, literature and poetry, Buddhist scriptures and Taoist collections, calligraphy and painting, Zhongding writing, medicine and medical skills, and has extraordinary achievements, worthy of the reputation of his contemporaries: "Pedantic Heavenly Man, Tao and Immortal Interpretation" ("Willow Cliff Outer Edition") and "Boji Qunshu, known as Xuehai" (Guo Jun's "Fu Shan Biography").

"Today we can see a lot of Fu Shan's calligraphy works, but very few people have seen Fu Shan's paintings. This is because there are currently only three or four museums in the country that have a small number of Fu Shan's paintings. In the public and private collections of Japan and the United States, there are also very few paintings by Fu Shan. ”

"One Night of Rain in the Mountains" is an excellent representative of Fu Shan's "winning with bone strength" and bold style. This work depicts the poetry of Wang Wei's "Sending Zizhou Li Zhijun" in the Tang Dynasty: "Ten thousand trees reach the sky, and thousands of mountains sound cuckoos." It rained overnight in the mountains, and the trees were full of springs. The Han woman loses the cloth, and the Ba people sue the taro field. Wen Weng turned the professor and did not dare to rely on the sages. "On the fan surface of less than a foot, the deep mountains are depicted, and the wonders of the sun and rain in the thousands of rocks and ravines are depicted, showing the majestic and magnificent realm. The stone bones are outlined with a hard brush, and the dyeing of the Mijia technique not only fully expresses the rugged stone, but also depicts the thick and moist atmosphere of the mountain stone after the rain. In the vicinity, the layers of rain trees and jungles are pointed out by the rice point landscape painting method, which is thick and rich. The mountain stream and spring in the distance, shrouded by the heavy night, set off the "Baizhong Spring" with thousands of twists and turns, overlapping knots, at first glance, intertwined with each other, and dense and dense, reflecting the emotion, rich in musical rhythm and rhythm, giving people a rich imagination space. It is one of the few fan paintings in Fu Shan, which is a wonderful masterpiece.

Fu Shan's paintings are very few and have not been widely circulated. In the 60s of the 20th century, "Selected Paintings and Calligraphy of Fu Shan" and "Collection of Fu Shan's Paintings" were published in China, the former included 25 paintings, and the latter only 30. As a generation of people in the north of Xiongzhen in the early Qing Dynasty, his works are known as "divine products" (Qin Zuyong's "Tongyin Painting Theory") and "Yipin" (Wang Shizhen's "Chibei Occasional Talks"), and those that can survive are extremely precious. This "One Night of Rain in the Mountains" was included in the "Fu Shan Painting Collection" published by the Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House in June 1965. Edited by the Shanxi Jinci Cultural Relics Depository, this book is a collection of the Palace Museum, Shanghai Museum, Tianjin Museum, Shanxi Museum and other units in one volume, and is personally selected and inscribed by the collector, connoisseur and calligrapher Kang Sheng.

Wang Duo took pleasure in reading all his life, devoted himself to literary rhetoric, and wrote a lot. He is not only a calligrapher, but also a highly accomplished poet. After Shiqing, he was quiet and self-proclaimed, and only enjoyed drinking and writing poems. He regarded poetry as a way to express his feelings and vent the blocks in his chest, and wrote hundreds of volumes of poems. In his letter to his brother Wang Yan, he said, "He left it to tell the world and future generations, and those who read it and pity his aspirations are only a few volumes of poetry." It can be said that "poetry manuscript", as a form of calligraphy that returns to the basics, not only has special artistic value, but also inadvertently and naturally presents the author's profound calligraphy skills, and is also an important document, supplementing Wang Duo's research materials.

Manuscripts of poems

Ink on paper, album (6 folios)

Publication: Wang Duo's Poetry Manuscript Ink, pp. 57-67, China Bookstore, 2014.

Wang Duo's poems are a collection of his spirit, and his heart and heart are integrated. There are 23 poems in these six books, among which "Disciples of the Pear Garden in the Old Days", "Watching the Monks Tell the Story of Xikou Coming to Beijing", "Rainy Night in Chang'an", "The Red Crickets in the Mountains Bloom in February and March", "Borrowing Tears", "Yanqiu Village", "Untitled", "Feeling the East Wind" and "Xie Jiaofeng" are found in the "Anthology of the Mountain Garden". The twisting and whirling of handwriting in many places is just with the content of the poem, that is, the author's inner entanglement, helplessness and appearance, which is a rare combination of Wang Duo's poetry and books in his later years. "At the beginning of more than 1,000 volumes of poems, at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, Yandu was burned in Tianjin, and only two-tenths of the world", if the ink manuscript is concerned, it is even rarer, it is six open to preserve to this day, which is precious.

Wen Zhengming is good at landscapes, flowers, orchids and bamboos, fine and good, ink and green. Because of the high longevity, the large number of students, and the children and grandchildren are all good at painting, the Wuzhong area has inherited its painting style for several generations, and the descendants call it the Wen School, and have almost become synonymous with the Wu School. It can be seen that its prestige is long, and its calligraphy and painting art are loved.

Left: Cover and Table of Contents of the first episode of "Selected Famous Paintings of Tianyintang" Right: "The Long Objects of Dafengtang: Wen Zhengming, Tang Bohu, Shen Shitian, Qiu Shizhou Collection"

Description: (1) At the back of the book, there is a text Zhengming's great-grandson Wen Congjian Guanba, and it has been collected and inscribed by the Qing Kangxi collector Miao Yuezao, Liang Qingbiao's disciple Qiao Chongxiu and his son Qiao Yi. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, it was inscribed by Baoxi and treasured by Jiangling Deng Chengwei (Dingchen).

(2) This volume has been published in "Selected Famous Paintings of Tianyintang" (Volume 1) and "Dafengtang Long Things: Wen Zhengming, Tang Bohu, Shen Shitian, Qiu Shizhou". 1. The owner of Tianyintang is the famous educator and collector Zhang Bojin (1897-1988), who is rigorous in his studies, fond of collecting calligraphy and paintings, and searching the world at home and abroad. In 1963, he selected 100 pieces of proudly collected for the publication of "Selected Famous Paintings of Tianyintang", starting with the Song Dynasty and ending with eight strange things, each of which details the shape, size, style seal, and small biography, and the research is detailed. China Guardian's 2011 Autumn Auction featured "Treasures of the Heavenly Hidden Hall", in which Wu Bin's "Mountains and Flowing Water" and Wang Hui's "Seclusion in the Pine Gully" sold for 25.3 million yuan and 19.55 million yuan respectively.

2. "The Long Thing of the Great Wind Hall" brings together the paintings of the past dynasties collected by Zhang Daqian's Great Wind Hall. Dafengtang was co-founded by Zhang Shanzi and Zhang Daqian Kunzhong when they were studying art in Shanghai. In the 1920s, when Zhang Shanzi and Zhang Daqian lived in Xichengli, Ximen Road, Shanghai, they were lucky enough to collect the Ming Dynasty painter Zhang Dafeng's painting "Zhuge Wuhou's Teacher", and they couldn't put it down.

This volume paints 11 frames of landscapes and flowers, each with a book on the topic. Landscape or ink, or green and light color. The ink painter has the simplicity and moistness of Wu Zhonggui; The colorist has the faint and light beauty of Zhao Mengfu's father and son. And the peace and simplicity are as scattered as their people. It's mediocre and fair, not weird, and it's calming to read. The flowers are orchid chrysanthemum narcissus, elegant and chic, which can be called a wonderful product. The folio is a book, handsome and beautiful, which is its true color. Looking at its wind god, it should be its work in its prime. The silk is extremely fine for painting, and the book is made of rare Jinsu Mountain Tibetan scripture paper.

Wen Zhengming's painting prefers beauty, refinement, and elegance all the way. In his brushwork, it is always a scene of chanting, cooking tea, watching the spring, and enjoying the shade, and looking at his landscape paintings, it can always give people a pleasant, quiet and warm sense of happiness.

Orchids are abundant in Wenzhou and northern Fujian, and Wen Zhengming's father, Wen Lin, once served as the prefect of Wenzhou, with outstanding political achievements and was admired by others. When sketching the fragrant bluegrass, presumably Wen Mingming will also think of the past of Wenzhou.

Wu Zhi's copy: "Authentic Inscriptions"

Explanation: (1) According to the "Taichong out of the Suo Yue Mantra" written by Wang Xudeng at the back of the volume, this volume was collected by Yuan Fuzheng in the Ming Dynasty. Yuan Fuzheng, the word is good, the number is too chong, and the people of Huating. In the twenty-third year of Jiajing (1544), he was a Jinshi, the director of the Punishment Department, and moved to Nanyang Wang Changshi.

The Shanghai Library has a collection of opera artist Wang Tingne's "Human Mirror Yangqiu", Yuan Fuzheng wrote "Narrator Mirror Yangqiu", and signed "Taiyuan Wang Suidengshu" at the end, which shows that Yuan Fuzheng and Wang Suideng had a deep friendship.

(2) It is a collection of seals, from the end of the Ming Dynasty to modern times, and it has been collected by celebrities such as Li Yingzheng, Wang Wenbai, Qian Wanxuan, Wu Shangzhong, Wu Zonghan, and Cheng Zhenyi.

"The Biography of Mulberry Parasitism" is skillfully composed of more than 100 drug names. It describes that there is a person named "Sang Parasitic" in Changshan place, who was a friend of Liu Yu (363-422), Emperor Wu of the Southern Song Dynasty, when he was lowly, this person was simple and ambitious, extremely talented, after Liu ascended the throne, he served as a general, recommended talents for the country, pacified thieves, was worshiped by the emperor as the elder of the country, and later became rich and lustful, and indulged in leisure and luxury and died early. The whole article is more than 1,000 words, embedding the strings of interesting drug names with homophony, and embedding the colorful drug names into the text, which is a legendary fable novel. It reveals the philosophy of life that the government should be honest, thrifty and self-supporting, and should abstain from lust.

Zhu Yunming's "Mulberry Parasitic Biography" is written in cursive on paper, with a pen and a smooth stroke. Wang Suideng commented on this volume, "sometimes charming, sometimes ancient, sometimes unrestrained and indulgent", just like Han Xin's soldiers, odd and positive, with endless changes.

(1) Chen Jiru (1558-1639): The literary and creative works of harmonious history are from Changli's "Biography of Mao Ying", and the body of the ancient man's satire is also. Jing Zhao's penmanship in this volume is unrestrained, such as Nie Yinniang's swordsmanship, changing like a god, without leaving the wrist, and entering the technique. Chen Jiru.

(2) Dong Qichang (1555-1636): "The Biography of Mulberry Parasitism", Zhizhi Shanren takes the text as a funny person! It is his book that is also wishful thinking, with vertical and horizontal ups and downs, and the first is a little ear. With its sloppiness, it is enough to call this article also. Dong Qichang question.

From Wen Zhengming to Fu Shan - Wu Men in the middle of the Ming Dynasty and calligraphers and painters in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties丨China Guardian 2024 Spring Auction

(3) Wang Xudeng (1535-1612): Zhu Jingzhaoshu is like Han Huaiyin's use of soldiers, just and strange, strange and right, the more the better, and the changes are endless. Yu saw his book, without worrying about dozens of volumes, vertical and horizontal, large and small true lines and cursive, none of the volumes are similar. I know that this Weng really has a creation in the wrist. "The Legend of Mulberry Parasitism" does not have a thousand words, sometimes charming, sometimes ancient, sometimes unrestrained and indulgent, and believes in the stunt of Linchi! Too rushed out to Suoba, comic to the Zhi appreciation, I am afraid it is not enough for this heavy ear. Wang Xuedeng.

According to Wang Xudeng's "Tai Chong out of the Suo Yue Mantra Question", this volume was in the possession of Yuan Fuzheng in the Ming Dynasty. And through many Tibetan seals, it can be seen that from the end of the Ming Dynasty to modern times, many celebrities such as Li Yingzheng, Wang Wenbai, Qian Wanxuan, Wu Shangzhong, Wu Zongxuan, Cheng Zhenyi and so on have been eye-to-eye.

After entering the Qing Dynasty, this volume was obtained by Ye Yuanfeng (1797-1849) of Cixi. Ye's was famous for his reputation for the Seed Virtue Tang Pharmaceutical Industry, and he organized the Baihu Poetry Society to sing harmony with the scholars, and collected a large number of calligraphy and painting products, which was a good story for the poetry of eastern Zhejiang. In the 15th year of Daoguang (1835), Ye Yuanfeng collected 91 books and carved stones into 8 volumes of "Huhai Pavilion Collection Posts", and 77 calligraphers in the Ming and Qing dynasties, including famous artists in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, such as Zhu Yunming's "Mulberry Parasitic Biography" (see Volume 3), Dong Qichang's book "Shu Wang Wei, Cen Shen, Du Fu's Seven Rhythm Poems" and Wen Zhengming's "Tengwang Pavilion Preface and Poems", etc., are all books.
