On April 25-27, 2024, the 5th China Spatial Data Intelligence Conference SpatialDI 2024, hosted by ACM SIGSPATIAL China Branch, was successfully held in Nanjing. During this period, a general election was held at the 4th Executive Committee Working Conference, and Professor Gui Zhipeng was elected as the Secretary General of ACM SIGSPATIAL China Branch.
ACM SIGSPATIAL China Chapter is the most active and authoritative academic organization in the interdisciplinary field of GIS and CS in China, including 81 executive committee members and nearly 300 members from universities and leading IT companies at home and abroad. From 2021 to mid-2024, the branch held four sessions of the China Spatial Data Intelligence Academic Conference, two Spatial Data Intelligence Strategy Seminars, and two ACM Turing Conference sub-forums in Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Nanjing, Beijing, Wuhan, and Hefei, with more than 5,000 participants, which received great attention from domestic scholars and industries.
The current presidium is chaired by Professor Meng Xiaofeng of the School of Information of Renmin University of Chinese, Professor Wu Huayi of the State Key Laboratory of Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing Information Engineering of Wuhan University, Researcher Ding Zhiming of the Institute of Software of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Gao Yunjun of the School of Computer Science and Technology of Zhejiang University, Professor Liu Yu of the School of Earth and Space Sciences of Peking University, Professor Sun Guangzhong of the School of Computer Science and Technology of the University of Science and Technology of China, Researcher Xie Xing of Microsoft Research Asia, Professor Leyang of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning of Shenzhen University is the vice chairman of the committee, and Associate Professor Pan Xiao of Shijiazhuang Railway Institute is the secretary general. After the general election, the next presidium of the branch will be chaired by Professor Liu Yu of Peking University, Professor Wu Huayi of Wuhan University, Professor Guan Qingfeng of the School of Geography and Information Engineering of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Associate Professor Li Yong of the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, Professor Gao Yunjun of Zhejiang University, Researcher Xie Xing of Microsoft Research Asia, Professor Leyang of Shenzhen University as vice chairmen, and Professor Gui Zhipeng as the Secretary-General for a term from 2025 to 2026.

The 5th China Conference on Spatial Data Intelligence (SpatialDI 2024) is hosted by Nanjing Normal University and co-organized by six institutions and scientific research organizations, including Jiangsu Collaborative Innovation Center for Geographic Information Resources Development and Utilization, and the International Chinese Geographic Information Science Association (CPGIS). The conference invited five experts, including Academician Zhou Chenghu of the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Li Qingquan of Shenzhen University, Professor Cong Gao of Nanyang Technological University, Dr. Xie Jiong of Alibaba Cloud Database and Storage Laboratory, and Professor Zhang Xueying of Nanjing Normal University to make invited reports, and set up 10 thematic forums and 4 cutting-edge workshops. The relevant situation of the conference has been reported by Xinhuanet, Economic Daily and other major media, and the social attention is extremely high, among which the conference-related news released by Xinhuanet has been read more than 60 million times.

Teachers and students of our school actively participated in the meeting and carried out in-depth exchanges, sharing and learning. Professor Zhang Yongjun, Dean of the School of the School, gave a report entitled "Multimodal Remote Sensing Basic Model: Progress and Prospects" at the special forum on "Generative AI and Spatial Data Intelligence". Professor Qin Kun presided over the symposium on "Spatial Humanities and Social Geographic Computing", and gave a report entitled "Network Mining and Correlation Analysis of Geographic Multi-stream at Global Scale" at the symposium on "Government Spatio-temporal Big Data and Data Governance". Professor Gui Zhipeng served as the chairman of the conference program committee and participated in the selection of outstanding papers and the revision of strategic reports. Professor Li Yansheng and Professor Qin Kun served as members of the conference program committee. More than 20 graduate students attended the conference.
