The Shanghai light source line station project passed the national acceptance. After the line station project is put into operation, Shanghai Light Source will have a total of 34 beam lines and 46 experimental stations to provide services for the majority of users, covering life science, material science, chemical catalysis and other multidisciplinary fields.

On May 15, the Shanghai Light Source Line Station Project, a major national scientific and technological infrastructure, ushered in a key node and successfully passed the national acceptance. With the main goal of solving the national strategic needs and major scientific problems in the scientific frontier, it further develops on the basis of the existing Shanghai light source, establishes advanced and systematic synchrotron radiation experimental methods and comprehensive research methods, and comprehensively strengthens and expands the experimental capabilities.

Successfully passed the national acceptance

Located in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, Shanghai Light Source is the first third-generation synchrotron radiation light source in Chinese mainland, which started construction at the end of 2004 and was officially opened to users in 2009.

Shanghai light source line station project is the National Development and Reform Commission approved the "Twelfth Five-Year" national major scientific and technological infrastructure construction project, in November 2016 under construction, in July 2023 to be fully completed, the main construction of the project includes the construction of 16 advanced beamlines and experimental stations, expand the performance of light sources, the establishment of user auxiliary laboratories and user data centers, etc.

Through the construction of the Shanghai light source line station project, the project team has overcome a series of key core technologies, developed a number of key equipment with international first-class level, and built a number of beam line stations with key performance indicators in the forefront of the world or unique, which has made the experimental research capability of Shanghai light source improve by leaps and bounds.

"After the line station project is put into operation, Shanghai Light Source will have a total of 34 beam lines and 46 experimental stations to provide services for the majority of users, covering life science, materials science, chemical catalysis and other multidisciplinary fields, and become a major scientific and technological infrastructure with the largest number of line stations, the widest coverage of energy areas and rich experimental methods in the third generation of energy synchrotron radiation light source devices in the world." Tai Renzhong, vice president of the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and deputy manager of the Shanghai light source line station project, introduced.
