Hello Tibetan friends, today we have invited Mr. Tang Fazhou, then the successor of Qi Baishi, the disciple of Qi Liangzhi, the president of the China Qi Baishi Painting and Calligraphy Academy, the visiting professor of the Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, the official image spokesperson of NetEase Group, the specially invited teaching and research director, the contracted painter of Beijing Fine Art Academy and Rong Bao Zhai, the expert of Qi Baishi's calligraphy and painting big data identification, the president of the Shanghai Qi Baishi Art Research Association, and the chief operating officer of Baishi Shantang Culture Media, Mr. Tang Fazhou, once heard Liu Xun say: Around 1951, I was still working in the "People's Pictorial", In order to cooperate with the world peace movement and propaganda at that time, the editorial department of the pictorial decided to ask the old man Shiraishi to paint a dove of peace. Comrade Li Keran, a student of the old man Baishi, accompanied Zhu Dan, Hu Kao, me, and Liu Yousheng, a photojournalist of the "People's Pictorial", to visit the old man. The old man is a well-known Chinese and foreign painter, before I went to imagine that the painter's courtyard must be very luxurious, although it is not necessarily a grand view garden, but it is also a deep mansion compound, the front column and the back building, the rockery pond carved beams and paintings, quite a magnificent mansion.

But when we came to the old man's house, it turned out to be just a very ordinary small courtyard in the north room. The main hall outside the north house is a reception room and a painting studio, with a square brick floor, which is what the old man himself called the "White Stone Painting House". The old man sat in front of the painting and chatted with us. Sometimes I listened to the old man's conversation, sometimes I scanned the surroundings with my eyes, and with the curiosity of a young man, I always wanted to find out what was so different about the house of the world-famous great painter, and I was disappointed. All the furnishings in the room are simple, there is no literary ornaments, a piece of old wool on the painting case, on which is full of ink and Chinese painting colors that have been spilled over from rice paper, this small painting felt has been used by the old man for decades, and the four treasures of the study are also very ordinary. It was in such an almost "humble room" that the old man created an astonishing number of masterpieces of Chinese painting.

Regarding the seal carving art of the old man Baishi, there are also people who have written about it, such as the late Mr. Fu Baoshi and Mr. Hu Peiheng. Here I only want to talk about one small thing, which can also show the serious attitude of the painter towards art. I once saw the old man Shiraishi carve a chapter for the writer Comrade Fang Ji. The old man of Baishi is written with a knife, a piece of Shoushan stone in his hand (the old man never uses the "printing bed" to engrave), with a brush to outline the composition position of the word "Fang Ji", hit it, that is, with a single knife straight carving, after the knife will never return to the knife, the painter was already an old man in his 80s at that time, but his thin hand holding the knife running powerful and focused, really like the heroic spirit on the martial arts field, it is really moving.

After the engraving was finished, the old man rubbed a frame with cinnabar ink, and the comrades watching next to him said that it was very good. The old man looked at the word "Fang Ji" on the rubbing, didn't say a word, and handed the seal to the nurse who was waiting for him. The nurse understood what the old man meant, and immediately took the word "Fang Ji" carved by grinding it next to the grinding stone, wiped it clean and handed it to the old man.

The old man said to everyone that the knife power was soft, the composition and seal were messed up, and they had to be re-engraved. For the 80-year-old man, the engraving should be regarded as "heavy physical labor", like the old man of Baishi, such a seal carving everyone, according to common sense, carved by hand, on the side of the word "white stone", people will be regarded as a treasure to collect.
