This method simply saves your photo management, so that your photos can be easily and quickly saved to the NAS, and you no longer have to trouble plugging and transferring them, which is super convenient! To implement SecondsTransfer, you first need to make sure that your camera has FTP function, which is a key step. The FTP function allows the camera and NAS to transfer data directly, eliminating the need for a computer as a "transit station", which is simply time-saving and labor-saving! Many brands of cameras now support this feature. For example, Canon's cameras from the 5D4 and Sony's cameras from the α7 III. onwards have been equipped with the FTP function, which can easily transfer photos directly to a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device via FTP (File Transfer Protocol), eliminating the need for cumbersome steps of plugging and removing memory cards and transferring them through a computer. In this example, the QNAP TS-464C2 (firmware version: QTS 5.2.0.2737) is used as an example, and the steps are as follows:
FTP settings
First of all, you need to create a shared folder on the NAS to store photos for the camera, if you plan to quickly access and manage the camera photos, you can map them to a network disk, and after the camera is wirelessly transmitted, you can browse, edit and organize these photos on the computer, which greatly improves the efficiency of photo management. Tap the "Console" icon and tap the "Shared Folders" menu.
Click the "Create" button in the shared folder menu, and then click the "Shared Folder" menu to enter the next step of settings.
In the Folder Name menu, enter the name of the shared folder you want to specify (for example, FTP), and then click Next until all settings are complete.
Click the "QuFTP FTP Server" icon to set up FTP, if it is not installed, please go to the app store "AppCenter" to install it.
Once you are in the QuFTP FTP Server app, enable the FTP service directly in the System option of the FTP Server menu. In the configuration, select Enable FTP Server and select FTP Standard Mode as the protocol type, and keep the default port number to 21.
Drag the scroll bar, and in the options of "Set Root Folder", select the "ftp" folder you created earlier as the target storage location, and click the "Apply" button to complete the setup on the NSA side. At this point, the configuration of the NSA side has been successfully completed. Of course, if you want to ensure the security of the NAS and allow the camera to transfer photos wirelessly, you can create a dedicated account for the wireless transfer of the camera, and only give FTP access to that account, and then do the following.
A dedicated account for wireless transmission of the camera
Click on the "Console" icon to go to Settings, and in the Permissions menu, find and click on the "User" option.
Once inside, click on "Create User" in "Create" to set up an account for wireless transmission of the camera.
In the "Create User" menu, enter a username and password, and it is recommended to set a username that is easy to remember (such as "ftp") so that the camera can easily enter it. The password setting should also be secure (the password should be at least 8 characters long, otherwise the account will not be set successfully), but it should also not be too complicated to affect the input of the camera.
Then click "Shared Folder Permissions" to set it up next.
In the Shared Folder Permissions, only check the "RW" (read and write permission) of the "ftp" private folder you just created, and leave the permissions of all other folders unchecked.
Then click "Edit App Permissions" to set it up next.
In the "Edit Application Permissions", only the FTP server is checked, and other services remain unchecked.
Once all the settings are complete, click the "Create" button and the NAS side has successfully configured a dedicated account for the camera wireless transmission.

Select "Set Automatically"
Use TCP/IPv6 and select Off.
Configure the FTP server connection settings
Select FTP Mode and select the default FTP.

Enter the IP address of the NAS at home
The Port Number Settings port defaults to 21
Configure the "Login Method", select "Login Password", and enter the FTP account and password you just set on the QNAP NAS
Set the "Destination Folder" and select the "Root Folder" option to save the image to the root folder specified in the FTP server settings.
When the above information is displayed, select Confirm to trust the target server.

Photo transfer
On the menu bar, select the "Image Transfer" option in the "Wireless Functions" menu
Select "Image Selection/Transfer"
Select "FTP Transfer"
Select "Select Image" for the pictures you want to transfer
Select the pictures you want to transfer with the "Turntable" on the camera, then press the "SET" button on the camera, add the checkmark "√" through the top left of the "Turntable" screen, then press the "SET" button, and press the "MENU" button on the camera to return to the "Transfer Menu" after the selection is completed.
Click on the "Transfer" button.
After pressing "Confirm", the selected photos will be transferred to the NAS at home via FTP.
Although the transmission speed of the Canon R5's high-definition photos may not be as fast as that of a card reader, I think it is quite convenient to make a cup of tea at home.
