From 2006 to the present, this 77-year-old man has traveled all over the mountains and rivers of Zichuan, running nearly 30,000 miles, successively investigating 104 bridges and 203 ancient villages at his own expense, and editing out two painstaking works of "Banyang Bridge Story" and "Banyang Ancient Village", filling the gap about bridges in Zichuan ancient and modern chronicles.

Out of his sense of responsibility and sense of crisis in Zichuan's many years of traffic work, Li Xianjin felt that many ancient bridges in Zichuan's jurisdiction were incomplete or even omitted due to historical changes and other reasons, and many of them had been abandoned, buried or demolished, and there were fewer and fewer of them. After retiring, he wanted to make up for the shortcomings of the ancient bridge and do something meaningful. Since then, he has consulted ancient and modern county chronicles, relevant historical materials and village records, genealogies, and inscriptions in Zichuan and surrounding districts and counties; Ask relatives, find friends, and collect clues from many sources; While conducting field surveys, carrying on "earth tools" such as compasses, tape measures, magnifying glasses, and small brushes, and bringing water and dry food, it was a day out. Ride a bicycle nearby, take a bus taxi in the distance, and walk if you don't have a car. Braving the scorching heat, resisting the severe cold, climbing the high mountain, drilling the bridge hole, and reaching the Shanqiao Village at the junction of Linqu in the east; west to Wangcun Xipu, Baiyun Mountain; south to Dazhuang Village in Boshan; North to Fengshui Village in Zhangdian. In order to speed up the progress, I bought a computer to learn typing, bought a camera to learn to take pictures, took pictures of the existing ancient bridges one by one, measured them over and over again, and made detailed records; For the ancient bridge that no longer exists, do everything possible to find older people who have seen the ancient bridge, make interview notes, and find someone to draw a map; In order to verify the accuracy, sometimes a bridge is less than two or three trips, and more than five or six trips. Since the expense of more than three years, the journey of thousands of miles ran all over the mountains and rivers of Zichuan, surveyed and recorded and compiled the book "Banyang Bridge Record", recorded 104 bridges in detail, including 26 modern bridges, 78 ancient bridges, and 41 ancient bridges that were not recorded in the Zichuan Chronicles discovered by the new survey, which filled the gaps and gaps in the Zichuan Ancient Bridge Chronicles, and was valued and affirmed by the leaders of the Zichuan District: "The advanced comrades have made a great contribution to Zichuan and set an example for the retired comrades."

In June 2014, Li Xianjin resolutely donated his 420,000-word manuscript, nearly 1,000 pictures of the ancient bridge and "The Story of the Banyang Bridge" and all the materials to the Zibo Municipal Archives Bureau free of charge. Li Xianjin said: "If it is placed here, it will play a greater role for the country and society than in your own hands." ”
"The Story of Banyang Bridge" records in detail the outline of 78 ancient bridges in ancient Banyang County and their structural form, geographical location, roads, rebuilding and historical figures, road and bridge knowledge, customs and people on the side of the bridge, legends and stories, cultural relics and monuments and other precious graphic materials, which have high historical value." In order to unravel this mystery, the 76-year-old veteran comrade Li Xianjian, but he still got up early and worked tirelessly on the mountain road to explore and investigate the ancient village of Zichuan, and this year he persisted for 8 years at his own expense, climbed over 318 mountains, investigated more than 130 villages, interviewed more than 230 people, took tens of thousands of photos, walked tens of thousands of kilometers, surveyed the ancient city of Banyang, the blocking wall, the Zichuan section of the Great Wall of Qi and 203 ancient villages (including 67 villages and 136 cottages), and made a detailed analysis of the name of the ancient village, the age of construction, The geographical location, the shape of the contour, the length and width of the wall, the height and thickness of the fence and the building materials have been carefully researched and registered. At present, "Banyang Ancient Village" has been compiled and printed into a book, which will once again fill the gap in the historical record of Zichuan Ancient Village, and has high historical value for the study of local history and culture, ancient village dwellings, place name evolution, building technology, military defense, etc.
