On May 13, 2024, the lecture "National People's Congress Regional Country Forum (Phase 25) - China-Uzbekistan Relations in the Context of the Belt and Road Initiative" hosted by the National Institute of Development and Strategy of Chinese University and undertaken by the Institute of Eurasian Studies of Chinese University was held offline from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Professor Ravashan Mursurmanov, Vice Rector of Ulubo State University of Uzbekistan, was invited as the keynote speaker to deliver a report on "China-Uzbekistan Relations in the Context of the Belt and Road Initiative". Kang Jie, associate researcher at the Institute of Eurasian Studies, China Institute of International Studies, Song Bo, assistant researcher at the Center for Strategic and Security Studies at Tsinghua University, Wang Peng, assistant researcher at the Institute of Eurasian Studies at Minmin University, Chinese University, and Joku J. Jorge, director of the Department of Science and Public Affairs at Ulubo State University. Yokub S Ergashaov participated in the forum.

The forum was chaired by Xu Qinhua, Vice President of the National Institute of Development and Strategy, Executive Dean of the Institute of Eurasian Studies at Chinese University, and Professor of the School of International Relations at Chinese University.

Professor Ravashan Mursurmanov pointed out that China's Belt and Road Initiative is an indispensable and important part of global development issues, and the Ukrainian side attaches great importance to the current situation and prospects of docking with China on the Belt and Road Initiative, and is also very concerned about the common security strategy of China and Ukraine. The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has brought tangible benefits to Uzbekistan and other countries along the Belt and Road. He pointed out that the Belt and Road Initiative is an important embodiment of Chinese President Xi Jinping's diplomatic thought and wisdom, and is a positive measure of China, aiming to expand the comprehensive opening up in the context of world globalization, and create a tangible platform for a community with a shared future for mankind and a new type of international relations.

Professor Ravashan Mursurmanov said that in the current context of geopolitical fluctuations and growing uncertainty in the world, it is particularly important to strengthen all-round cooperation between China and Ukraine. During the previous talks between the two heads of state, the leaders of the two countries signed a joint statement and decided to elevate China-Ukraine relations to an all-round strategic cooperative partnership. In order to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, the professor put forward a five-point direction for cooperation. Specifically, it is necessary to deepen exchanges and cooperation between China and Uganda in the fields of politics, economy and trade, transportation and logistics, digitalization, science, education, culture and tourism. However, there are both risks and opportunities in cooperation. The main challenges that China and Ukraine need to address together are terrorism, religious extremism and food security. Finally, he pointed out that China-Uzbekistan relations have good prospects for development, and he hoped that China and Uzbekistan could carry out more active and in-depth cooperation in energy and digitalization.

Kang Jie, associate researcher of the Institute of Eurasian Studies of the China Institute of International Studies, Song Bo, researcher of the Center for Strategic and Security Studies of Tsinghua University, and Wang Peng, assistant researcher of the Institute of Eurasian Studies of the Chinese University of China, also actively interacted with Professor Ravshan Musurmanov on the areas of interest based on the content of the lecture, Yan Jun, assistant researcher of the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Pan Yuxi, commissioner of the International Liaison Department of the National Institute of Development and Strategy of the National Development and Strategy University of Chinese University, also participated in the forum.
