1905 Film Network News On May 14, 2024 local time, in Cannes, France, at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, jury members Omar West, Greta Gerwig, Lily Gladstone, Nadine Labaki, Ebru Ceylon, Hirokazu Kore-eda, Juan Antonio Bayana, Eva Green and Pierre Francisco Favino (in order of standing) appeared on the red carpet of the opening ceremony.
Meryl Streep, winner of this year's "Honorary Palme d'Or", gracefully appeared on the red carpet in a white dress. The main creator of the opening film "Act II", director Quentin Dupie, starring Léa Seydoux, Vincent Linton, Louis Garrel, etc., as well as Chinese filmmakers Gong Li, Zhao Tao, Guan Xiaotong, Guan Hu, Liang Jing, Peng Yuyan, Tong Liya, Zhou You, etc., the crew of "Dog Formation" also appeared one after another.
This year's Cannes Film Festival will feature 22 films competing for the Palme d'Or for Best Picture, including Jia Zhangke's The Merry Generation. In addition, three Chinese films were shortlisted or screened: "Sauce Garden Lane" directed by Chen Kexin was shortlisted for the "Non-Competition Unit"; "Dog Formation" directed by Guan Hu was shortlisted for the "Un Certain Regard Unit"; Zheng Baorui's new work "The Siege of the Kowloon Walled City", which was released in China on May 1st, was shortlisted for the "Midnight Screening" unit. The festival will be held from May 14th to May 25th.
