author:Emergency doctor Da Liu

The girl's father, Mr. Wei, said that on the morning of November 19, 2023, his daughter went to Chengyang District People's Hospital for vomiting, abdominal pain, cough, fever and other reasons, and was urgently diagnosed with gastroenteritis and infectious fever and dehydration.

On the same day, the doctor on duty diagnosed her daughter with gastroenteritis and infection fever after a preliminary physical examination, cardiac enzyme measurement, blood routine + hypersensitive CRP examination, and electrolyte 2 examination, and prescribed infusion medicine for her. Because the symptoms did not improve during the infusion, the doctor prescribed an abdominal ultrasound examination the next morning.

The next day, Mr. Wei took his daughter to a follow-up visit, but the doctor still diagnosed gastroenteritis and infectious fever. During the infusion, his daughter had severe abdominal pain and purple lips, and Mr. Wei reported it to the doctor on duty, but the doctor did not come to check on him.

On the way to another hospital, the daughter was in shock and died after resuscitation, and the death certificate (inference) issued by the hospital showed that the cause of death was presumed to be fulminant myocarditis.

On November 22, 2023, the Chengyang District Health Bureau sent Mr. Wei's daughter's body for examination. On January 4, 2024, the autopsy results showed that "the deceased was consistent with interstitial pneumonia, which caused impaired gas exchange due to widening of the alveolar septum, which caused acute heart failure and death from respiratory and circulatory failure."

On March 20, the Health Bureau of Chengyang District, Qingdao made a written reply to Mr. Wei, and after investigation, the family members reported to the doctor on duty that the child's pain had worsened during the infusion process.

The written reply stated: "At present, although the court's determination of whether the hospital was at fault in the diagnosis and treatment of the child has not yet been clarified, in order to warn the latter, on February 26, 2024, the hospital decided to suspend the medical service treatment of pediatrician Ji Moumou after research, and circulated criticism in the whole hospital. In the next step, we will deal with it in accordance with laws and regulations in light of the results of the court's judgment."

Mr. Wei told the Beijing News that on December 19, 2023, the case had been filed in the Chengyang District People's Court of Qingdao City, and the identification of his daughter's liability for medical damage was still ongoing.

On May 14, the head of the relevant department of the Chengyang District People's Hospital in Qingdao told the Beijing News that the doctor involved had been suspended on the day of the girl's death, and hoped that the whole hospital would take this as a warning, "At least the doctor should check on it, and this matter is indeed wrong." At present, the doctor involved is still suspended, and the hospital is cooperating with the appraisal agency to conduct the appraisal.
