On May 12, Mother's Day, a garden party with the theme of "Love among peers, warm Mother's Day" kicked off offline, which was initiated by Guangzhou Shangxian Charity Foundation, Foshan Nanhai District Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Foshan Nanhai Qichuang Social Work Service Center, and Guangdong Jingxing Health Care Industry Co., Ltd., with volunteer service support provided by Guangzhou High-tech Medical and Food Technical School and HSBC Global Customer Service (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. Nearly 100 groups of slow angel families and more than 20 volunteers participated in the day, and the scene was filled with laughter. Mothers have gained beauty here, felt the happiness of being loved, and the children have also had a good time.

In the past exchanges with Slow Angel families, the Shangxian Foundation found that most Slow Angel mothers are dedicated to taking care of their children, running around the hospital and family all year round, and even need to take care of work at the same time. But there are few opportunities to focus on yourself, see your beauty, and affirm your self-worth.
To this end, from the perspective of women, the Shangxian Foundation has set up different theme areas such as nail art, beauty makeup, and handicrafts in the activity venue, so that slow angel mothers can create, discover and display beauty with their own hands in the process.

Mother Ah Hui and son Xiaochuan
"I'm really lucky to have met a lot of kind people and things along the way."
In 2016, my child Xiaochuan was born in Sichuan. As he grows, we find that he is a little sluggish in his athletic development. After a comprehensive examination at the hospital, Ogawa was diagnosed with aphtokinetic cerebral palsy. From that moment on, I embarked on a journey to recover with Ogawa.
As a single-parent family with a child who is in school, financial pressures have forced me to reconsider our future. I tried to seek help in the rehab family group in the hope of finding someone who could take care of Ogawa so that I could return to work and financially support Ogawa's treatment.
Just when I felt helpless, one of the parents in the group offered to take care of Xiaochuan at a cost below the market price. This unexpected assistance allowed me to return to work and ensure that Ogawa could continue to receive rehabilitation.
Luck didn't stop there. In the past two years, I have successfully moved my hukou to Foshan, so that Xiaochuan's rehabilitation treatment has benefited from the local medical insurance and preferential policies of the Disabled Persons' Federation. Fortunately, I also applied for public rental housing, which greatly reduced the financial burden on my family.
Returning to the workplace was a challenge for me, but I also met a lot of friendly colleagues at work. They knew about my family situation, always asked me in advance if I needed help, and invited me to dinner out, so that I could feel at home at work.
Ogawa, my little darling, has a personality very similar to mine, optimistic and determined to deal with life's problems. At lunch, despite the limited fine movement of his fingers, he insisted on eating on his own, knowing that only if he was able to be independent, I could be more relaxed and he could integrate into society more quickly.
"Lucky" is the word I often use to describe myself. Along the way, I have experienced too many difficulties, but every warmth in my life can become my strength to continue to move forward. Just like this Mother's Day, I am very happy to be able to participate in the activities of the Sangxian Foundation and complete this special "cross-dressing" in my life.
My story is a story of resilience and hope. May every mother find extraordinary luck in ordinary life, and use these little lucks to light up every corner of life.

Mother Shu Ting and son Hao Hao
"It's not just the children who have been slowly trying to grow up, but also me."
My name is Shu Ting, an ordinary mother living in Nanhai, Foshan. My son Hao Hao is 9 years old this year, he is a special child. He was diagnosed with hypoxic-ischemic sequelae due to hypoxia at birth, which means that his development is somewhat slower than that of children of the same age. From the time he was 10 months old, I took him on a journey to find the right environment for recovery and learning. We started from Gaozhou, passed through Guangzhou, and finally came to Foshan. This journey is like a real-life version of "Meng's mother's three moves", but for me, it's for my children, and it's all worth it.
In this process, I am not only looking for hope for Haohao, but also speaking for special children. I am actively involved in the medical social work service of Nanhai Women and Children, and as a parent volunteer, I do my best to assist the social work team in planning and organizing various activities. Visiting other families with special needs and taking part in city walks are all part of our lives. Through the cultivation of parent groups, I gradually became the backbone of parents, taking the initiative to help other newly diagnosed and needy parents. As a fellow traveler, I have helped families of other special children to better accept the disease and return to life better.
While accompanying Haohao in his recovery, I also used my spare time to study and prepare for exams. Through unremitting efforts, I successfully obtained the certificate of primary and intermediate social worker, and the undergraduate degree in pharmacy from China Medical University. I see serving children with special needs as one of my life's callings. In addition to accompanying Haohao, I also hope to serve the special children, combine medical rehabilitation and humanistic care, and help the children and their families deal with various problems in the process of rehabilitation, so as to give back to the society.
On Mother's Day this year, I had the opportunity to participate in this special event organized by the Shangxian Foundation and took a set of art photos. It was a new experience for me because I had hardly had the opportunity to take artistic photos since my wedding photos. After the "cross-dressing", Hao Hao and I were surprised by a side we had never seen before, and we rediscovered our own beauty, the beauty of our mother. I am very happy to be able to participate in this "cross-dressing" activity, and I hope that other mothers like me can take this step bravely, not only focusing on inner peace and growth, but also being able to take care of their own image and face life with confidence and courage.
A "mother" is concerned for a lifetime, but a mother is not just a "mother". The same is them, brave and resolute women with their own names. We believe that the road to accompany the growth of the slow angel may be bumpy and difficult, and the brave optimism of the slow angel mother will bring infinite hope and create a "little miracle" of life, come on!
