Ordinary paper strips rotate and fly between the fingers, and are combined into colorful three-dimensional floral artworks through rolling, pinching and pasting, which is the daily fun brought to retired residents by the "Paper Handicraft" course of Hongmei Street Community School in Xuhui District. A few days ago, a weekly handicraft class was held in Donglan Gumei Party and Mass Service Center Neighborhood Hui.

Early in the morning, the residents' aunts gathered together with a full bag of materials to start the journey of paper making. I saw the aunts skillfully pick up a blue paper strip, gently roll it up with a paper stick, and then put the paper roll into the paper ruler and choose the appropriate size of the circle. When they let go, the rolls of paper naturally relax into large circles, and they carefully arrange the spacing of the layers of the rolls, then knead the rolls into the shape of water droplets and hold them in place with white glue. Following such steps, the aunts repeated again and again to make multiple paper rolls, which were finally spliced together into a large flower.

"Our courses are designed from easy to difficult, with residents starting with simple tight rolls, loose rolls, teardrop rolls, and eye-shaped rolls, and then gradually progressing to more complex shapes, such as arrow rolls, heart-shaped rolls, duck paw rolls, etc." The handicraft teacher introduced. In each class, residents learn to make one or two flower patterns, and by the end of the class, they carefully arrange their flowers and leaves and layer them on top of each other, and finally create vivid and three-dimensional combination paintings.
