I sometimes listen to music in my spare time, among which military songs are one of my favorite tracks, especially "Military Song of the Chinese People's Liberation Army", which sounds particularly cordial and inspiring, with the crisp and loud military music, I pull my mind back to the military camp decades ago.
This is an unforgettable experience in the army, when we were young and pure-hearted, although the living conditions in those days were not as hard as now, and the work was harder and more tiring, but the heart was sweet. It is our beliefs and ideals that support us and make us work selflessly and without favoritism. The loud and majestic "Military Song of the Chinese People's Liberation Army" is often played back in the barracks and resounded over the compound.
I grew up in the compound of the 26th Army barracks in Yantai, and I often heard this song, and the beautiful melody has long been integrated into my heart. Inspired by this song, I enlisted in the army, and I really felt the care, warmth and teachings given to the recruits by leaders and veterans at all levels in the barracks.
Because we have dedicated our best years to national defense, and the army has given us the best rewards.
In the big school of the People's Liberation Army, we have studied political theory, military technology, and, more importantly, a healthy and simple military style, military morality, and military discipline have cultivated and infected us, made us soldiers with good moral character, built an unbreakable bottom line of discipline and morality, and laid a solid foundation for our future development.
We left our youth, vitality in the barracks, and memory symbols in the barracks.
Although I have been away from the barracks for more than 30 years, I have always been haunted by my dreams, my heart is still there, I have not left a single step, and I still have to look for it all the time.
Since the beginning of the 70s, I have been a soldier in the 10th Logistics Department of the Jinan Military Region and have experienced three units, the first nine years in the grass-roots units, the sub-ordnance repair company (the second company) and the 25 field hospital, and the last ten years in the sub-department.
Every time my comrades-in-arms get together, I repeat it again and again, although the branch has been abolished, the comrades-in-arms are still there, the "position" is still there, the story is still there, and the spirit is still there.
In 2016, I went to Laizhou, Shandong Province, to look for the 25 field hospital where I had worked for a year.
The 25 Field Hospital is located less than 3 kilometers from Laizhou Bay, and there are two red brick buildings built by the Soviet Union in the early fifties.
But in this red building, the footprints of young soldiers in their prime, the youth of many male and female soldiers, and the unforgettable mark of me.
25 Field Hospital Site
In 1976, I came to the Red Mansion of the hospital for a few days, so I set off from the Red House and went to Hebei to spend an unforgettable month. This year is an extraordinary year, a shocking year, let me experience a difficult and glorious years, that is, in 1976, there was a Tangshan earthquake that shook hundreds of millions of people, we went to Hebei, to participate in the arduous earthquake relief.
In July 1976, Qujiang of the automobile repair company of the branch company, Zhao Hongliang and me of the police communication company, Meng Qingzhong, a health officer of the company to which I belonged, and more than a dozen backbone members of the company, were added to the 25 field hospital as a vital force from the unit directly under the branch organ. At that time, it was rumored that the branch might be abolished and the backbone of the three companies would be put into the 25 field hospital, which was in urgent need of a new batch of male soldiers.
Field hospitals are different from garrison hospitals, and in the event of war and emergency, the field hospital is the first place to be dispatched by the logistics troops. In the 70s, the main support directions of the 10th Division were the 26th Army in Jiaodong, the Neichangshan Fortress Area, the Qingdao Garrison Area and the Yanwei Garrison Area.
Our division has two field hospitals, 22 and 25.
According to Qujiang's record: "In the early morning of July 28, 1976, a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.8 occurred in the Tangshan area of Hebei Province (now Tangshan City) (epicenter Fengnan County), a large number of houses were instantly razed to the ground, casualties were heavy, and many people were buried under the rubble and urgently needed rescue. Where the common people are in danger, there are people's soldiers. The railway troops, infrastructure engineering troops, the Beijing Military Region, the Shenyang Military Region, military academies, the air force, the navy, and other units stationed in and around Tangshan were the first to rescue people, and then more than 100,000 troops gathered in Tangshan one after another. Braving aftershocks, the young soldiers reclaimed the lives of a large number of buried people from the hands of death with only their hands and simple tools. At that time, I was serving in the No. 25 Field Hospital of the Jinan Military Region, and after the earthquake, all the medical staff of our hospital set off from the starry night of the Shandong Peninsula to Tangshan, and after traveling thousands of miles to the disaster area, they quickly opened a complete general hospital, and treated a large number of wounded and sick people in the disaster area for more than a year, until the end of September 1977, when the whole hospital was evacuated from the disaster area and returned to Shandong. ”
On August 1, 1976, Qu Jiang and a dozen other comrades-in-arms who had not been in the hospital for a long time, a large number of female and male soldiers such as Zhao Liqun of the 25th Field Hospital, and Nian Fenggang, the father of our comrade-in-arms of the Second Company, Nian Weijia (then the director of the medical department of the 25th Field Hospital), urgently set off to Hebei to participate in the earthquake relief.
According to Bao Hua, then a staff officer of the Division's War Logistics Section, he recalled: "When the 25 Field Hospital was entered, the order of the Military Region was issued by the Division's working group on my behalf, and I was in the Operations Logistics Section at that time. ”
At that moment, I still vaguely remember that it was as nervous as the outbreak of war, and the comrades-in-arms of the 25 field hospital were tense and tight, nervously and orderly making all preparations, and pulling out at any time, so that they could come as soon as they were called, and the battle could be won.
On the night of "August 1st", under an order, in the dark night sky, only the bright moon hanging in the sky saw us off, and more than 200 comrades-in-arms of the whole hospital quietly stood in line to gather, counted the number of people, brought medical and other support equipment, and boarded the transport vehicle.
According to Zhao Hongliang's recollection: "Before the hospital departed, we didn't know that there was such a big action, after dinner and a few comrades-in-arms went to the camp for a walk, when we arrived at Yangwugou Village in the south of the hospital, the hospital's emergency assembly call sounded, we realized that there was a situation, so we hurriedly ran back, as soon as we entered the camp gate, we saw that the whole hospital was busy with the sky. The medical staff were busy carrying the war readiness medical kits, and the cooking squad had neatly placed the cooking utensils such as the marching pots there waiting to be loaded. We were temporarily assigned to each institute and immediately participated in the moving team.
The weather in August was hot and unbearable, carrying medical equipment and medicine boxes was a physical job, and we didn't move a few times on the sweat and back, we male soldiers had to go into battle shirtless, and the tanned skin of half a month of swimming training at the beach was exposed to everyone, at that time people ridiculed our swimming team as "Rafik", because of the uniqueness of "black", so usually a person is embarrassed to be exposed in front of everyone, not to mention those who are not familiar with the female soldiers behind the fingers, But at this time, there was no shyness at all. There is only one belief to do your best to complete the task. Because we have just finished half a month of swimming training, our physical fitness has been greatly enhanced, and most of them are young guys, so we have naturally become the main force of transportation. In the loading and unloading work, we always rush to the front, and are well received by the leaders and comrades. ”
At that time, it was the Ye County (now Laizhou) Automobile Transport Company that transported us to Weifang Railway Station. Zhao Hongliang said: "On the afternoon before the departure of the hospital, we received an order from the superiors to set off for the whole hospital to carry out the earthquake relief mission, set off at 6 o'clock in the afternoon, and rushed to Weifang Railway Station at 9 o'clock in the evening. At that time, the 91st Automobile Regiment stationed in Laiyang was assigned by the superiors to be equipped with vehicles and assigned to our hospital to carry out tasks. The driving time from Laiyang to Ye County is two to three hours, and it is impossible to arrive in Weifang according to the order time when the car group convoy arrives and then loads the car.
At the critical moment, the party committee of the hospital made a decision to request support from the local government, so it requested the Yexian County Party Committee to dispatch vehicles. The county party committee of Ye County immediately assigned the vehicles of the county transportation company to send them to our hospital, and some drivers who ran long distances joined the transportation team without eating, and the scene was also very moving. It's really difficult for one side to support from all sides. The fact that the vehicle was used was enough to reflect the decisiveness and flexibility of the leadership team at that time. Due to the full cooperation of the local government, our hospital arrived at Weifang Railway Station smoothly according to the time required by the superiors. The cars of the automobile regiment became an afterthought. ”
At that time, many people did not have time to say goodbye to their loved ones, and without hesitation, they braved the scorching heat and embarked on a long journey. First I rushed to the railway station by transport car, and then took the stuffy tank truck of the military train, and after several days, I arrived at the destination of Luan County, Tangshan, Hebei Province, exhausted, when I saw the tragic scene of the collapse of houses in the disaster area, a large number of wounded people waiting for treatment, and the eyes of the people in the disaster area eager for assistance, which immediately stimulated the fighting spirit of the comrades-in-arms, and I and all my comrades-in-arms threw themselves into the battle of rescuing the wounded and sick with enthusiasm.
Looking back now, the moment I left Shandong, I was "confused", when more than a dozen comrades-in-arms from the team directly under our branch had just been transferred to the hospital and were receiving training in basic medical knowledge and swimming. Just know that you are going to go to the earthquake relief, what is the specific location, time and mission? I didn't know that I had been a squad leader in the company for a few years, and I had just been transferred to the hospital for a short time, and I had not yet come to my senses before I threw myself into such a major emergency task.
At that time, the comrades-in-arms had only one belief, and it was their duty for soldiers to obey orders, and everyone was in the stuffy tank car for several days, following the rhythm of the train, humming the military song "Forward!" in their hearts. Forward! Forward! Our team is facing the sun, stepping on the land of the motherland, carrying the hope of the nation, and we are an invincible force. ”
This scene is like going to the front line to fight, 25 field hospital comrades-in-arms, regardless of male and female soldiers, all know that "there are tigers in the mountains, and they go to the tiger mountains", they are not afraid of difficulties, they are not afraid of sacrifices, and they go to the places where the people need them most.
Zhao Hongliang recalled: After our whole hospital went to Tangshan, the leaders of the branch led a delegation to Luan County, Hebei Province to express condolences to the cadres and soldiers of our hospital, and the director of the Political Department of the branch Wang Ren was one of the members of the condolence group. He asked me with concern, "How about coming to the hospital?" Are you still adapting to work? I said, "It's not as tense and orderly as in the company, and the style here is more loose. Director Wang took over the conversation and said: "It depends on the strengths of the hospital, this time I came to Tangshan, the whole hospital acted, and it took only three hours to successfully complete the assembly task from Ye County to Weifang according to the order of the superiors. "That's true. It can be seen that the superior leadership was very satisfied with the operation of the 25 field hospital.
The difficult years in Luan County, Tangshan, Hebei Province, have given us a glimpse of what a great people's army is, and where there are difficulties, there is a people's army. What is the great motherland, when one side is in trouble, all sides will support. In the face of a terrible catastrophe, in the midst of severe trials, as the military song sings: "We are an invincible force." ”
Earthquake relief is an arduous and glorious battle, although it is a peaceful era, participating in the battle of earthquake relief is like going to the battlefield, and the work rhythm and management of the entire disaster area is like that in wartime.
In those years, the vast number of medical and nursing staff of the 25 Field Hospital braved difficulties and dangers, risked their lives, rescued the wounded, and composed a moving movement of saving lives and helping the wounded.
In September this year, I met Zhao Liqun of the 25th Field Hospital in Yantai, we are the small family of the 26th Army in Yantai, and participated in the great earthquake relief in the same hospital, we talked about the past in the hospital, and talked about the unforgettable earthquake relief, this unforgettable experience, let us have a special experience, as a soldier although he has not been on the battlefield, but he has been on the earthquake disaster area of Tangshan, Hebei Province that shocked the world to participate in the earthquake relief, just like the battlefield, the right way in the world is the vicissitudes of life.
When I saw Zhao Liqun, I couldn't help but think of the female soldiers in the 25 Field Hospital, most of them are children of cadres, and they have not experienced any hardship since they were children, but in the disaster area, they are not a little squeamish, and when they work, they do not lose to male soldiers at all.
Is the disaster area bitter? Tired or not? Dangerous or not? It's really bitter, tiring and dangerous. When they were in the disaster area, they were often in constant danger of aftershocks, and during the winter, they lived in temporary "houses" made of straw mats, and at first there was no fresh food, so they ate a few bites of war biscuits to make do with it, and rescued the injured people day and night, and so on.
25 All the personnel of the field hospital who went to the disaster area put the interests of the people in the first place, were not afraid of hardship, and were not afraid of death, and worked day and night to solve problems for the people, leaving behind a heroic movement that moved the heavens and the earth.
In particular, the female soldiers in the hospital saw from them that under the inspiration of the military song, they did not forget their original intentions, lived up to their time, sprinkled the sweat of youth in the barracks, and left the footprints of hard work on the land of Luan County, Tangshan, Hebei Province.

In July 1976, a strong earthquake struck the Tangshan area of Hebei Province. In accordance with the orders of the Central Military Commission and the Military Region, the front commander of the 67th Army of the Army led the 228th Regiment of the 76th Division and the 596th Regiment of the 199th Division and 5 Zhouqiao Companies, mobilized 422 vehicles of various types, totaling more than 3,290 people, to carry out the earthquake relief mission in Tianjin. 24 and 25 field hospitals, with a total of 430 people and 17 vehicles, went to Luan County and Changli County in Hebei Province to carry out the task of rescuing the wounded and sick; Five medical teams from the health train have also been dispatched, and 40 medical teams and five field medical stations have been set up to be on standby.
In the course of emergency rescue and disaster relief, the vast number of logistics personnel carried forward the revolutionary spirit of "not being afraid of hardship and not afraid of death," actively rescued the wounded and sick, and treated and transported more than 6,000 wounded in total.

At that time, the leaders of the hospital were all enlisted in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the War of Liberation, and they experienced the ups and downs of the war years and refined their rich combat experience and command ability. The years are quiet, moving forward with heavy loads, looking back and gazing, I miss very much President Han Ximin, Political Commissar Pan Chao, Vice President Li Haoxian, Vice President He Yinde, Vice President Li Yunlong, Director Nian Fenggang, Director Yang Shande and some old leaders of the three institutes who led us to complete the arduous and arduous earthquake relief mission in Tangshan, Hebei Province.

Before we successfully completed the earthquake relief mission in Hebei and returned to the land of Qilu, the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army invited all the earthquake relief personnel of the 25 Field Hospital to Beijing and live in the guest house of the General Logistics Department for a three-day holiday, so that I could have the opportunity to go to Tiananmen again.
This time, I saw not only Tiananmen Square again, but also the National Museum, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven Park.
Allowing all the personnel of a regiment-level unit to enter Beijing is the highest political honor and reward given to us by the head of the Central Military Commission General Headquarters and the organs for our anti-earthquake and disaster-relief soldiers.

I didn't go to this hospital for a long time in July 1976, and to be honest, I regretted that I had a lot of contact with my comrades-in-arms in the Second Company, and I was doing a good job of repairing ordnance and equipment. Suddenly I changed my unit and job, I was unfamiliar with my life, I couldn't get a job, and I was somewhat depressed and depressed. But after following the 25 field hospitals to the disaster area, I saw that the disaster area needed soldiers and the people needed us. Never fear, never give in" sounded in my ears, my thoughts changed suddenly, people must not fall into a low depression, we must face the light, give up selfishness, contribute to the earthquake relief, and do something for the people in the disaster area.
In the disaster relief area, I was assigned to a school, I can't do the work of doctors and nurses, it is a good choice to help in the cooking class, follow the staff Master Sui, learn to cook, and provide food security for a medical staff. Every time I add more food to the medical staff, I add more food so that they can eat well and treat the sick and wounded. The secretary forgot his name, and one day he quietly told me that there was a car to Qinhuangdao to buy food, and asked me to go and see it together, so I had this photo of Shanhaiguan.
Later, I was asked to go to the ward, follow the doctor to see how to treat the wounded, learn infusion injections, blood pressure and body temperature with the nurses, and participate in the nursing work of treating the wounded and sick. Most of the injured in the disaster area are fractured patients, and every time I see their painful expressions, I can't help but feel sad in my heart. When they were treated by medical staff and overcame the disease and were cured and discharged from the hospital, not to mention how happy they were.
Director Zhang and Instructor Han, who seem to be veterans in the 50s, often ask me about my work, so that I still feel that the warmth of these two veterans is still there, the disaster relief work is so busy, and they still have to care for their subordinates.
25 field hospitals in Hebei for a year, branch leaders and organs did not forget us. Bao Hua told me: "About a year after you were in Tangshan for disaster relief, Feng Yinqi, deputy section chief of the Political Department, and I accompanied Vice Minister Sun Ying to Luan County to express our condolences to you. ”
In September 1977, the 25th Field Hospital completed its mission and returned to the barracks of the hospital in Ye County, Shandong Province, and our highly stressed body and mind were completely relaxed. Hearing that the branch had not been disbanded, I asked to return to the ordnance repair company (2nd company) of the division after a long absence, and transfer to the branch office three years later. During his work in the branch organs, he often went to his subordinate units to inspect and investigate the work, and I remembered going to 25 field hospitals. In 1987, the director of the political department of the 136 Hospital (the 25 Field Hospital was moved to Rizhao and changed to 136) came to the branch office to do business, and invited me to visit the Rizhao 136 Hospital, but I was busy with other things and did not succeed.

This bit by bit, gathered in the heart, practiced in the body, used for a lifetime, how can you not be grateful for the unforgettable trip to Tangshan? ”
Our comrades-in-arms in Qujiang from the 25 Field Hospital not only participated in the earthquake relief in Hebei, but also went to the front line of Laoshan and experienced the test of life and death.
Interestingly, for 70 years, Qu Jiang was in the branch automobile repair company, and I was in the ordnance repair company of the branch, separated by a wall. We were transferred to the 25th Field Hospital together, participated in the earthquake relief together, and then were admitted to the Chinese Department of Shandong University in 1985 at the same time, and studied and lived together in a building of the Army Academy of the Jinan Military Region for two years.
Time is like an arrow, the sun and the moon are like a shuttle, I have been away from the 25 field hospital for many years, and I have met some comrades-in-arms. Bi Yanbo is the deputy director of the Military Medical Research Institute of the Jinan Military Region, and I have lived in this unit for several years and have met him often. Zhang Rongguang was in the Provincial Department of Culture in the 90s, and I was in constant contact with the Provincial Agricultural Committee. Song Lan was at the Changzhou Public Security Bureau in Jiangsu, and I went to Changzhou on a business trip in 2001 to get together together. Contact and meet Qu Jiang and Zhao Hongliang more. We were all transferred from the teams directly under the branch to the 25 field hospitals at the same time, and we participated in the earthquake relief together, which can be described as "brothers in distress".
25 Comrades-in-arms of the field hospital, we have completed the military mission together, most of them have returned to their hometowns, although there are many people who have not been in contact with each other, but they have you in their hearts, after all, they are comrades-in-arms who share weal and woe together, and I sincerely wish you peace and happiness.
Looking back, it has been many years since we left the barracks, and we have taken off our military uniforms for a long time, but the singing of the "Military Song of the Chinese People's Liberation Army" is still there, the dream of the military is still there, and the military soul is still there.
