On May 13, Ms. Deng from Xinyu, Jiangxi Province, posted a video on social platforms, saying that her father bought a BYD car in April this year to work in online car-hailing, but in the process of picking up passengers recently, the main driver leaked electricity, causing her father to be injured and suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, and is currently being treated in the emergency room of the local hospital. Ms. Deng also released a surveillance video of the car, which showed that at 5:32 p.m. on May 4, a man suddenly felt something strange when he was driving a vehicle, and said to the co-pilot passenger: "The electricity has run out." After that, he stopped and shouted as he got out of the car: "Help, my car is running out of power." Ms. Deng said that when 120 arrived, her father was already foaming at the mouth.

According to a disease certificate stamped with the "special seal of Xingang Central Hospital" provided to the reporter, Ms. Deng's father was diagnosed with: "brain stem hemorrhage, aspiration pneumonia, electrical injury, hypokalemia, and hypertension grade 3, extremely high-risk." Ms. Deng also said that her father's "back was full of bubbles from the electrocution." When the reporter asked for further pictures of the injury, the two photos of his father in the hospital bed provided showed a shoulder injury.

The Red Star News reporter called the relevant person in charge of BYD on this matter, and the other party said that about the "electric shock rumors", it can be seen from the dashcam video that there is no abnormal situation in the co-pilot passenger, and the owner can also untie the seat belt to move, plus the vehicle has a safety design of potential balance, and there is no abnormality in leakage monitoring. Therefore, it is preliminarily ruled out that the vehicle leakage caused the car owner's illness, and the possibility of the car owner's sudden cerebral hemorrhage causing numbness in the hands and feet and mistakenly thinking that it was an electric shock.

The relevant person in charge also said that after the incident, the vehicle involved was also driven away normally by the owner's family. BYD expressed deep concern and condolences to the owner and his family, and at the same time, expressed its willingness to actively cooperate with relevant departments to conduct identification and investigation.
