【Zen wisdom】 Sincerity is the eternal king

author:Maker IP Lao Liang

A few days ago, I participated in the recruitment work of a friend's company, and when I interviewed a college graduate, I looked at his resume and it was written: I have not been a student cadre, nor have I participated in social practice well, and I have zero work experience. I didn't get into the graduate school entrance examination, so I came to look for a job.

My friend Lao Shen frowned and handed me his resume: "Dude, you check it." ”

I know that Lao Shen is a little disgusted, but it is only because this boy is tall and relatively handsome, that Lao Shen, as a senior face control, did not immediately deny it.

I stared into the student's eyes and asked, "You're applying for a sales position, but your resume shows that you haven't done student management work and you don't have practical experience." So why do you think you can do the job? ”

The boy was a little cramped, but he didn't avoid my gaze, but straightened his back and replied, "Anything has a first time." I really don't have work experience, but I have the confidence to learn and grow as soon as possible with the help of the leaders to become a qualified employee who meets the company's requirements! ”

"Excellent! In this case, you go back first and wait for the notice from our company's human resources department. Results are available within two days. Please keep your phone open. I smiled at him.

The young man said goodbye to us happily and left in good spirits.

"No, man. For a child like this, the training cycle will be very long, right? "Lao Shen was obviously a little surprised by my decision.

"Big mistake! Let me tell you, this kind of kid is the best candidate for a sales position! I said it categorically.

"I want to hear about it." Old Shen was suppressed by my tone.

"Sincerely, because sincerely! Faced with such an important opportunity, this child chooses not to lie. Talent is rare! At the technical level, it is all possible to train. But at the level of character, it is difficult for you and me to train it! He doesn't lie, and his psychological quality is good, isn't he the right person to be a salesperson? ”

"That's really the way you analyze it." Lao Shen kind of understood.

"The first thing for employees in the sales post is to sell themselves, first let the customer recognize this person, and then recognize our products. I believe that such good seedlings will become the backbone of the company in less than a year. I then persuaded Lao Shen.

"Okay! Your brother is here with me, and he is full of words. You say okay, it must be bad. I will now inform Director Ma of the Human Resources Department and ask him to contact this student as soon as he goes to work tomorrow, do a background investigation, and then apply for the onboarding as soon as possible. "Old Shen is resolute.

"The probationary period is tentatively set for three months. You send a capable general to teach him, and a good seedling must be led by a good master. I emphasized it, and then said to Lao Shen: "Dude, I will brainwash you today and tell me about the ancestor's views on sincerity!" ”

"Hahaha, that must drop! I've prepared all the good wine for the dinner, just waiting for your brother's story to drink! ”

The chat with Lao Shen started with an interaction between Confucius and Ji Kangzi.

【Zen wisdom】 Sincerity is the eternal king

1. The heart wall of the world, sincerity is difficult to prevent

The Analects of Confucius records the following sentence:

Kangzi, that is, Ji Kangzi, was the Zhengqing of Lu State at the time, and he was in power. Ji Kangzi was very friendly to Confucius's master and apprentice. In the eleventh year of Lu Aigong, he sent people to pick up Confucius, who had traveled around the world, so that Confucius had something to rely on. Ji Kangzi also admired Confucius's apprentice Ran You, who once joined forces to defeat the Qi army, which was praised by the people of the time.

This sentence translates as:

Ji Kangzi sent some medicine to Confucius, and Confucius solemnly thanked him and accepted it.

But Confucius replied sincerely: "I don't know the medicinal properties of these medicines, so I don't dare to take them." ”

That's where it gets interesting.

With Ji Kangzi's identity and the relationship with Confucius's master and apprentice, Confucius should accept and take it without any guilt no matter what. But Confucius said a very bad sentence to his face: Don't dare to eat!

Why?

The first is because Confucius was very careful about safety and health. When Confucius was educating Zengzi, he said: "The body is skinned, and the parents who receive it dare not destroy it, and filial piety is the beginning." "Confucius has always attached great importance to health, and raised this issue to the height of filial piety.

Second, it is because Confucius attached great importance to sincerity. Confucius once said, "If a person has no faith, he does not know what he can do." So when facing the great benefactor and powerful minister Ji Kangzi, Confucius chose to tell the truth without hesitation: because I didn't understand, I didn't dare to take these medicines.

Telling the truth certainly ruined the atmosphere at the time, but it avoided the embarrassment of prevarication when Ji Kangzi asked about the curative effect in the future, and also refused the pull of the other party to send medicine again at one time, which is a strategic and efficient interpersonal relationship management model.

This sincere confession of Confucius fully reflects Confucius's wisdom, magnanimity and courage.

First of all, sincerity is a kind of wisdom (wisdom). Especially when dealing with high-ranking people, playing with the eyes of the heart is the way to die. If you show sincerity, others will believe in you unconditionally in the future, the communication cost will be reduced to zero, and both parties will benefit a lot.

Secondly, sincerity is a kind of open-mindedness. Confucius didn't understand the medicinal properties of this medicine, so he bluntly told him, not thinking about the face of his great master at all. If you don't understand something, tell the truth, don't pretend to understand. If you are honest, people will not laugh at you, but they will tell you this knowledge, and you will improve very quickly.

Finally, sincerity is a kind of courage (courage). No matter who the other party is, you must say your bottom line and boundaries, so that you will not be led astray by the other party, and you can keep your own principles.

To sum up, when Confucius interacted with Ji Kangzi in this time, he was courteous rather than formal, sincere but not more than sincere, principled, and flexible, which can be called a textbook-like demonstration of interpersonal relationship management.

Let's take a look at the power of sincerity through an example.

2. The wind of the gentleman, the mountains are high and the waters are long

Huangfu Ji (541-592 AD), a native of Chaona County, Anding County (now Chaona Town, Lingtai County, Gansu Province), was a famous minister from the Northern Zhou Dynasty to the Sui Dynasty.

Huangfuji's parents died early and he was fostered in his grandfather Wei Xiaokuan's house. Wei Xiaokuan, as an important minister of the imperial court and a famous military strategist in the Western Wei Dynasty and the Northern Zhou Dynasty, was very strict with the academic requirements of the children in his family.

Once, Xiao Huangfu played with his cousins and didn't finish his homework for the day. Wei Xiaokuan beat up all those big children, but remembering that he was young and his parents were long gone, he was not willing to punish him.

After his grandfather left, Huang Fuji said to his brothers: "I didn't have a parent's lesson, I grew up with my grandfather." If I don't be strict with myself, how can I become an adult? My brothers beat me up 20 times for my grandfather. ”

Huang Puji's cousins were very surprised and moved, and reluctantly beat him 20 times under his repeated requests. After Wei Xiaokuan heard about it, he burst into tears, both sad and gratified.

Because the emperor was smart and studious, when he became an adult, the name of the talented man spread all over Chang'an. Yu Wenyun, who was the crown prince at the time, befriended him. Once Yuwen Yong took refuge in Yunyang Palace, and the crown prince Yuwen Yun supervised the country. At this time, Wang Yuwen was in chaos, sent troops to block the gate of Chang'an, and prepared to kill Yuwenyun. The ministers in the city saw the chaos and scattered in a hurry, only Huangfu Ji was loyal to his duties, and rushed to Xuanwu Gate to rescue Yu Wenyun who was in danger. At that time, Yu Wenyun was already desperate, and he was overjoyed when he suddenly saw Huangfu Ji bring someone to save him. The two joined forces and struggled to resist the rebels, and finally waited for the counterinsurgency army sent by Yuwenyong, and Yuwenyun turned the corner.

After this incident, Yuwen Yong rewarded Huangfu for his achievements and moved him to Xiaogong Yin.

In 581 AD, Yang Jian established the Great Sui. Because of his appreciation of the emperor's achievements, Yang Jian sent him to make the history of the Yuzhou Assassin and the Jinzhou Assassin History successively. Huangfu repaid the favor, wrote to Yang Jian to suggest that he go south to attack Chen, and threw his pen into Rong, personally participated in the battle to destroy Chen, and achieved great military achievements.

After the destruction of Chen, Yang Jian appointed Huangfu Ji as the assassin of Suzhou. Huangfu has made great contributions to the recovery of the local economy.

In 590 AD, Gao Zhizhi rebelled against the Sui, and Gu Ziyuan of Suzhou responded with troops. Gao Zhi ordered Gu Ziyuan to attack Huangfu Ji, and the two sides held each other for 80 days without a victory.

Gu Ziyuan thanked Huang Fuji for his love for the people when he was in Suzhou, and although he was now in two camps, he still sent soldiers to bring beef and good wine to Huang Fuji on the day of the winter solstice.

Huang Fuji replied: "In the past, the people suffered in the Chen Dynasty, but it was I who relieved the people of the Great Sui. You should be grateful to Dade, how can you be a mad dog that eats and bites its master? Since you don't admit that you are a subject of the Great Sui, why do you give me wine and meat? I am a general of the Great Sui Dynasty, how can I have dealings with you? You don't have to waste your efforts to thwart my determination to be a loyal minister, and you don't want to confuse my brave soldiers of the Great Sui! You should think about your life and don't continue on the wrong path! ”

When Gu Ziyuan read this letter, he immediately kowtowed to the city and confessed, led his troops to surrender, and the rebellion in Jiangnan was quickly put down.

It can be said that it was Huangfu Ji who convinced the rebels with his personality charm!

Throughout Huangfu's life, it can be said that he has achieved the ultimate in sincerity. Sincerity is not only his sword, but also his armor, which helped him survive the treacherous Three Gorges of history and become a double winner in life and history.

The story is over, but Lao Shen is still unsatisfied: "Brother, I understand it completely: the corporal communicates, and I cheat; Sergeants mingle, with mixed beliefs and frauds; The sergeant's communication is only sincere! ”

"yes, buddy! The world's martial arts, only fast is not broken; The world's merits, only sincerity is not broken! "I gave him a thumbs up.
