If you really don't know, you can consult the United States, because the enemy's opposition means that we have developed very well in some aspects, so that the United States is afraid that we will even be included in the list of sanctioned entities to colleges and universities on the grounds of threatening their national security, just as Chairman Mao advocated that "whatever the enemy opposes, we must support." Therefore, the universities sanctioned by the United States are not so much sanctioned as being on the "honor list"?
2. 22 universities on the "honor list" of U.S. sanctions:
On May 10, the University of Science and Technology of China was included in the sanctions list by the United States, and it came into effect on May 14. It will become the 22nd university in China to be sanctioned by the United States, the first university among the five universities in Qingbei China, the third university sanctioned among the C9 universities, and the only university to be sanctioned twice.
The reasons for the sanctions are bizarre:
"USTC participates in scientific and technological research that threatens U.S. national security, such as quantum technology and nuclear security research!" As we all know, the quantum technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has indeed created world-leading scientific research achievements in quantum computing, quantum communication and quantum precision measurement on different tracks, and achieved quantum hegemony, and nuclear science and technology is an A+ discipline, leading the country.
Sanctions:
- The U.S. will soon add USTC to the 2024-10485 Export Control Entity List.
- This means that from May 14, USTC will not be able to use American products, including high-tech products such as computer software, books, papers, and chips; Unless specifically approved by the U.S. Department of Commerce.
- Conjecture: USTC graduates are likely to be restricted from studying in the United States in the future, or their U.S. visas will be repatriated or revoked.
Universities sanctioned by the United States:
First of all, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin Engineering, Beihang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Western University of Technology, China Southern Airlines, and G7 National Defense Seven Sub-universities of Southern University of Technology are all honorably listed;
followed by Harbin Institute of Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University (which is said to have been removed from the sanctions list), and China University of Science and Technology;
Again, the other 985 universities are University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Sichuan University, Hunan University, National University of Defense Science and Technology, Renmin University, Tongji, Tianda;
The sanctioned 211 universities include Beijing University of Posts and Communications, and double-non universities include Guangdong University of Technology, Nanchang University, Henan University of Science and Technology, and Luoyang University of Technology.
In the end, the only middle school that was sanctioned, the G7 university attached to the Western University of Technology, the middle school affiliated to Northwestern Polytechnical University, said that the reason was that the students of the Western University of Technology studied science and engineering, and almost all of the students in the United States came back to serve the country. Ridiculous no? A middle school wouldn't also "infringe" on their old American future technology, right?
USTC has been sanctioned twice:
- In November 2021, the National Research Center for Microscale Matter at USTC was sanctioned for preventing the acquisition and attempted acquisition of U.S.-origin items to support military use; Prevent emerging U.S. technologies from being used to support military applications of China's quantum computing, crack cryptography (referring to quantum computing), or develop the ability to uncrackable encryption (referring to quantum secure communications).
- In May 2024, USTC was sanctioned again.
USTC took the lead in realizing the "fractional quantum regression Hall state of photons" for the first time in the world in quantum simulation methods, once again boosting the "second quantum revolution".
3. Outstanding alumni of China Science and Technology:
USTC is one of the world's recognized universities and is well received by well-known Western universities, because USTC graduates have made very outstanding achievements abroad, such as Cao Yuan, the pilot of graphene superconductivity, Zhuang Xiaowei, a dual-employed professor at Harvard, with four academician laurels on his head, the world's top materials scientists Yang Peidong, Yin Yadong, Xia Younan, Sun Yugang, Wu Yiying, and the world's top artificial intelligence scientists Zhang Yaqin and Zhu Songchun......
Well-known alumni of USTC Hou Jianguo, Dou Xiankang, Xie Yi, Zhang Yaqin, Chen Gao, Sun Xiang, Pan Jianwei, Duan Luming, Zhu Songchun, Lu Chaoyang, Ma Dongmin, Lin Yuan, Zhou Siyi and other scientists have returned from their studies. Of course, the state should also create a better academic environment and scientific research platform for them.
