Directed by Polish director Maccey Peptzhişa, "The Blind Organist" depicts Miyette (David Ognik) who almost lost his sight from childhood and was sent to a visually impaired center cared for by a nun, he could only barely feel the glimmer, fortunately, music became the dawn of life, and he was extremely talented to find a way to communicate with the world through the piano. Originally studying classical music, after encountering the music of Bill Evans, he decided to become the best jazz pianist in Poland, playing all the way from the countryside to Warsaw (the capital of Poland) and obsessing over the piano. Despite being trapped in darkness, music allows him to have the most free-spirited soul and live a unique life.
Shooting a musical biopic, how to make the audience be attracted, the common way to shoot is to put the musician's life, like a chronology of its traces, the situation of popularity, may be lost in the middle of the way, but always through external forces or their own awakening, fans and return to the peak of the rise and fall curve, in a rich dramatic tension to show. "The Blind Pianist" does not follow such a "tradition", his editing jumps back and forth, but the non-linear narrative does not hinder our understanding of Miyette, but because of this free shuttle, like his jazz piano improvisational style, it can better shape his character and penetrate into his state of mind.
