Safety Code for Inflatable Rides

The standard will be implemented from July 1, 2024

From July 1st, it will be mandatory!

Bouncy castles and inflatable slides are popular rides for children. In recent years, such facilities have been overturned and leaked from time to time, resulting in a number of child casualties, and safety problems have become prominent. The new standard comprehensively improves the safety requirements of inflatable amusement facilities on the basis of the original recommended standards, and is fully enforced.

First, in view of the problem of easy overturning, the requirements for fixed and ballast systems have been strengthened. For the first time, the new standard proposes that inflatable amusement facilities must be operated outdoors with a fixed foundation or a ballast device fixed to its body, and equipped with an anemometer. At the same time, the new standard further clarifies the number, location and force requirements of fixed points, which can effectively prevent the occurrence of gale overturning accidents.

Second, in view of the problems of air leakage and overpressure, new technical early warning measures are proposed. The new standard requires that inflatable amusement facilities should have an internal air pressure monitoring device, which can give an alarm in time in case of accidental air leakage failure. The inflatable fan should have an automatic alarm function for unexpected shutdown to prevent the deformation and collapse of the facility caused by insufficient air supply. In addition, the new standard also requires that non-continuously inflatable amusement rides should be equipped with at least one safety pressure reducing valve to avoid the danger of overpressure.

The third is to further clarify and refine the use management requirements in view of the problem that the use management is not in place. The new standard proposes comprehensive routine inspection and maintenance requirements, detailing 14 items such as air leakage inspection, fixed and ballast system inspection, inflatable fan inspection, and flexible fabric wear and tear inspection. For the operating procedures and precautions, specific requirements such as weather influence, personnel allocation, and inflatable fan settings are put forward, which further consolidates the safety responsibilities of users and operators.

In addition, the new standard includes emerging wading inflatable rides and non-continuous inflatable rides.

The promulgation and implementation of the "Safety Code for Inflatable Amusement Facilities" standard will play an important role in technical support for ensuring the safe operation of inflatable amusement facilities and protecting the personal safety of children. In the next step, the State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standards Committee) will carry out the publicity and implementation of inflatable amusement facilities standards in various forms, and at the same time, together with relevant departments such as education and culture and tourism at all levels, promote the implementation and application of standards, and use standardized means to build a solid bottom line of amusement safety and ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
