On May 10, 2024, the 13th CCF Xiuhu Conference officially kicked off at the CCF Business Headquarters & Academic Exchange Center in Suzhou, which lasted for three days to conduct in-depth exchanges and discussions on "storage technology innovation driven by new applications and hardware". More than 20 experts, including Professor Zheng Weimin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Tsinghua University, Professor Jin Hai of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Shu Jiwu of Tsinghua University, and Li Hui, General Manager of Inspur Data, attended the meeting. Professor Hu Shimin of Tsinghua University, Chairman of the AC of Xiuhu Conference, Vice Chairman of CCF, and Professor of Tsinghua University delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Professor Zhou Ke, Executive Chairman of the Xiuhu Conference, Professor Feng Dan of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Professor Xiao Nong of Sun Yat-sen University, co-chaired the meeting.

With the continuous development of information technology, the total amount of global data continues to grow rapidly, data has become a national strategic resource, and data storage facilities have become one of the new infrastructures for the country's future key development. At present, the global storage market has exceeded 100 billion yuan, and it is expected to show a steady growth trend in the next five years. In addition, the emergence of new applications such as AI large models and Internet of Vehicles (IoV) has put forward higher requirements and new challenges for the efficiency, security, reliability, and scalability of data storage. The advent of new hardware, such as new nonvolatile memories and computational storage devices, has provided a new path for the design of storage systems. However, how to combine new application requirements and new hardware features to drive storage technology innovation is still an open question. To this end, the Xiuhu conference invited experts from academia and industry to conduct in-depth discussions on the physical basis of storage media and chips & storage, new memory and equipment innovation driven by new hardware, storage system innovation driven by new applications, storage services and applications, etc. At the same time, we also hope to fully discuss and form a consensus in the meeting, issue an initiative to promote the integration of industry, academia, research and government, and jointly promote the innovation and development of China's storage technology.

Xiuhu Conference is an in-depth seminar brand project launched by the China Computer Federation (CCF), which draws on the model of Dagstuhl Seminar in Germany and Shonan Conference in Japan to create a small high-quality academic seminar. Each seminar is aimed at a specific frontier issue to discuss and exchange, only the sponsor invited by the front-line experts to participate, not open to the public, the duration of the meeting is 3 days, the delegates are required to participate in the whole process, temporarily away from the hustle and bustle, calmly and in-depth discussion of academic issues, and guide scientists, enterprise technical experts and education experts to settle down in the impetuous society to study academics.
