Recommendation: The only current biography of Posner. At the age of 85, Judge Posner is a legend in contemporary legal circles, having written more than 50 books, more than 300 papers and more than 3,300 judgments. It's no wonder that there's a joke about Posner, "Rumor has it that Posner sleeps every night." Posner was not only industrious and prolific, but also a maverick, criticizing his academic peers when he taught at the university, criticizing judges and courts when he was a judge, and not saying what the public wanted to hear as a public intellectual.
