Jishi Mountain: Home reconstruction, there is a "healthy force"

author:Health News

The year 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and is a crucial year for achieving the goals and tasks of the 14th Five-Year Plan. To promote Chinese-style modernization, we must unremittingly consolidate the foundation of agriculture and comprehensively promote rural revitalization. Against this backdrop, villages around the world are embracing challenges and opportunities with a new attitude. The Health Newspaper has set up a column of "Healthy China, Rural Writing" to capture these vivid rural changes, record the touching stories that happened in the fields, in front of the village and behind the house, and show the new style of rural health in the new era.

Jishi Mountain: Home reconstruction, there is a "healthy force"

Recently, the Gansu Provincial Health Commission organized a series of targeted health assistance activities on the diagnosis and treatment of frequent diseases in Jishishan County, Linxia Prefecture, Gansu Province. The reporter visited the post-disaster centralized resettlement site in Jishishan County, visited many villages, and recorded the scenes of medical and health personnel providing medical services to the masses.

Jishi Mountain: Home reconstruction, there is a "healthy force"

On April 23, at a rural construction site in Dahejia Town, Jishishan County, the winding Yellow River not far away showed its ecological beauty.

Early in the morning, Ma Mingsheng from Gaoli Village, Liuji Township, Jishishan County, took the X-ray of his mother's review and waited early at the Dahejia Cultural Square in Dahejia Town. In the earthquake, Ma Mingsheng lost his father and his mother suffered a fractured left leg. After receiving treatment at the Gansu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ma Mingsheng's mother returned to the resettlement site in Jishishan County to recuperate, and is now able to walk slowly on crutches. Knowing that experts from the Gansu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine came to the free clinic, Ma Mingsheng specially brought his mother to let the experts check it.

On April 23, the "medical" heart for the people, protect the health of Jishishan County health assistance activities were launched in Dahejia Town, Jishishan County. The picture shows the site of the free clinic, where medical staff check the health of local residents.

"During this period of time, doctors from state-level and county-level hospitals have come to the resettlement sites to make rounds, and rural doctors have also delivered medicines to their homes." Ma Mingsheng said with emotion that thanks to the hard work of these medical workers, the reconstruction of the home has health support.

In March this year, the Jishishan earthquake recovery and reconstruction project was fully launched. Nowadays, construction scenes can be seen in full swing in many places in Jishishan County. Everything is being built in an orderly manner, from residential housing to public services to infrastructure and disaster prevention and mitigation systems.

There is a "Whereabouts Sign" hanging outside the door of the health room

Dahejia Town was one of the hardest hit townships. At 9 o'clock in the morning, at the resettlement site in Kangjiao Village, some villagers had moved small benches to get together to chat about family life.

The 74-year-old Ma Manai returned from a walk, with a ruddy face and a steady walk. At this time, the village doctor Fan Shilian was already waiting in front of his house. After entering the house, Fan Shilian measured Ma Manai's blood pressure and patiently and meticulously advised the precautions in daily life.

On April 23, Fan Shilian made a round at the resettlement site, and the roster in her hand recorded the health information of all the earthquake victims in the village.

"While I was sleeping, the wall suddenly fell." Ma Manai recalled that during the earthquake, he was frightened and his mind went blank. Although he was injured, he was awake and still remembered being carried into an ambulance by four people. In the earthquake, he suffered multiple fractures all over his body, as well as lung contusions, and after initial treatment in Linxia Prefecture, he was transferred to a medical facility in Lanzhou City. Now, Ma Manai's body has recovered a lot, and the village doctor comes to visit him every once in a while.

During the earthquake, almost all the houses in Kangjiao Village were damaged to varying degrees, and the village clinic was also unusable. Later, a clinic was set up in the settlement. Every day at around 8:30 a.m., Fan Shilian cleans the clinic first, half an hour before when she used to be in the village. Outside the clinic of the resettlement site, signs such as "health room" and "psychological counseling room" are hung, and pharmacies and treatment rooms are also independent rooms. The pharmacy is equipped with 125 kinds of medicines, which can basically meet the needs of diagnosis and treatment of common diseases. At present, diagnosis and treatment services and basic public health services are carried out on a regular basis.

After cleaning up, Fan Shilian had to go into the house to inspect the resettlement site. Outside the door of the health room hangs a "Whereabouts sign", and the sliding red arrow is dialed to the "On-Post" position. When asked how many people live in the resettlement site, Fan Shilian accurately reported the number: there are 888 households and 4,435 people in the village, and there are 2,375 people in the resettlement site in front of her.

During the time of the rounds, the resettlement site gradually became lively. Temporary public welfare posts were set up at the resettlement sites, and many villagers gathered together, holding brooms, shovels, dustpans and other tools in their hands, waiting for the resettlement sites to release their labor tasks that day. For the villagers, these public welfare jobs not only allow them to contribute to the reconstruction of their homes, but also increase their family income.

According to Fan Shilian, the villagers who were injured in the earthquake before, as well as the elderly, pregnant women, and children in the village, are all the key targets for follow-up. She opened a roster with detailed information about each casualty. "After the follow-up visit, I came back for a consultation. For patients with more urgent conditions, it is necessary to do a good job of screening and timely referral to higher-level medical institutions. Fan Shilian said.

When the pear blossom blooms, the pears will be ripe

In Meipo Village, Dahejia Town, many residents have pear trees planted in their yards, and they are a little plain white and pretty in the wind.

Jishi Mountain: Home reconstruction, there is a "healthy force"

On April 23, Wei Wenting (first from left), who participated in the medical round, checked the daily medication of a villager in Meipo Village, Dahejia Town.

The 57-year-old was a former gold miner who developed pneumoconiosis and asthma in 2012. In the earthquake, the damage to the Mamai Zhiji family was not severe, and cracks were only visible on some of the tiles of the newly renovated brick and concrete house. His next-door neighbor's house was clearly damaged in comparison.

"Pay attention to nutrition." Wei Wenting, a dietitian from the Clinical Nutrition Department of Gansu Hospital, Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, looked up and happened to see the pear blossoms in full bloom at the entrance of the hall. She said in surprise: "Eating pears is good for controlling the disease, and when the pears are ripe, you can eat them boiled, steamed, or eaten directly." ”

Ma Maizhiji said that he and his wife have been working at home for many years and have grown some corn. He has a son who works in the south all the year round and subsidizes the family on weekdays. Ma Maizhiji's only knot is the fear of asthma attacks. Looking at Ma Maizhiji's daily medication and the portable oxygen cylinder he had at home, Wei Wenting suggested that he buy a home oxygen concentrator and reminded him to carry an aerosol to relieve asthma attacks with him.

In the courtyard, Qi Hasan and Qi Haijizhe, residents of Meipo Village, saw the arrival of the doctor team and hurriedly moved a small bench. Qi Hasan said he suffered from lower back and leg pain and cataracts. "Linxia Prefecture's medical service capacity has improved a lot, cataract surgery can be done in the county, and acupuncture can be tried for low back and leg pain, which can play a role in relieving it." Gong Jianzhi, an attending physician in the Department of Orthopedics of Linxia Prefecture Maternal and Child Health Hospital, said.

Six years ago, Qi Hai Jizhe was diagnosed with breast cancer, but he did not receive systemic treatment. Now her breasts are as hard as stones, she said. Wei Wenting listened, immediately took out her mobile phone, connected her with relevant experts, and left her phone number, hoping that she would go to Lanzhou City for medical treatment as soon as possible. Liang Zhilong, a rural doctor in Meipo Village, also took these instructions to heart.

Looking at the construction site of Meipo Village, you can see that the excavator is working intensively. Liang Zhilong said that through government subsidies, interest-free loans and self-financing, villagers with severely damaged houses can live in new houses during the pear harvest season. It is understood that according to the plan, the maintenance and reinforcement of residential buildings in Jishishan County will be completed by the end of June, the reconstruction of the original site will be completed by the end of July, and the centralized resettlement will be completed by the end of September.

There is a Chinese medicine hall at the doorstep

In recent years, the primary medical and health undertakings in Jishishan County have made vigorous progress, and the development of the Central Health Center is a vivid microcosm. In 2021, the hospital built a traditional Chinese medicine hall, which is deeply loved by the masses.

"We have introduced advanced diagnosis and treatment equipment and provided traditional Chinese medicine characteristic diagnosis and treatment services, which has achieved rapid growth in diagnosis and treatment." Luo Dongqing, vice president of the Central Health Center, said that the hospital mainly serves 10 administrative villages in its jurisdiction, covering a population of 18,000 people, and at the same time expanding its service scope to more than 50,000 people in surrounding towns and villages. In 2022, the hospital had 11,000 outpatient visits, and this number will double in 2023.

Li Xudong, 29 years old this year, is a Chinese medicine orientation student who graduated from Gansu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is a native of Tianshui, Gansu Province, and after completing the standardized training of residency, he came to work in the Central Health Center of Zhizang. At the beginning, Li Xudong did not understand the language and was not very adaptable to life. Today, he has become the backbone of the Chinese medicine hall.

"At the grassroots level, there are more patients with cervical spine and lower back leg pain. We have carried out 15 appropriate techniques of traditional Chinese medicine such as acupuncture and massage, and also introduced infrared therapy instruments, electronic moxibustion treatment instruments, shock wave therapy instruments and other equipment, which can well meet the needs of the grassroots people. Li Xudong said.

In the Jiucheng Village Clinic in Zhizang Town, suitable techniques for traditional Chinese medicine such as cupping, moxibustion, and scraping are also widely used. Ma Ruihua, 38, suffers from frozen shoulder and comes to the village doctor Wei Xiuzhen from time to time. "I've had cupping therapy before, and it's been very good," she says. Sometimes I feel much more comfortable when I let Dr. Wei massage for a while. ”

Jishi Mountain: Home reconstruction, there is a "healthy force"

On April 23, Wei Xiuzhen explained oral hygiene knowledge to an elderly person when she was serving at home.

Over the years, Wei Xiuzhen's service has won the recognition of the villagers. She takes the initiative to provide home visits to patients in need, especially for the elderly. Wei Xiuzhen said: "Nowadays, rural doctors pay more attention to health management, and home follow-up has become an important part of their work, and almost all villagers know that family doctors have contracted services. ”

Mahu Feiya, a 44-year-old from Jiucheng Village, used to work with her husband in Lhasa, Tibet. Now, the two children in the family are older, one is 15 years old and the other is 12 years old, and they have reached the critical period of learning. In order to accompany their children, the couple returned to their hometown and opened a farmhouse in their own courtyard.

Over the years, Ma Hufei's teeth have become ill, his cervical spine has compressed nerves, his left hand cannot move, and he has also undergone surgery. For exercise and rehabilitation, the family bought a massage chair and a treadmill. Knowing that Ma Hu Feiya still had back pain, Wei Xiuzhen gave her physiotherapy at the bedside. Rehabilitation physiotherapy techniques were learned by Wei Xiuzhen who went to the health center every month to receive training in appropriate techniques of traditional Chinese medicine.

There are special treatments for 35 major diseases

In the central health center and the old city village clinic, there are signs in conspicuous positions that read, "Special Treatment of Serious Diseases (35 Types)", "List of Medical Insurance Treatment Standards for Urban and Rural Residents in Linxia Prefecture", etc. In recent years, the Gansu Provincial Health Commission, in accordance with the working principle of "timely approval, precise treatment, and dynamic tracking", has implemented whole-process information-based monitoring of the health status, treatment measures, and policy implementation of the population lifted out of poverty and the households monitored for poverty prevention.

At present, Gansu Province has implemented health assistance policies such as special treatment of 35 serious diseases and contract management of chronic diseases, and implemented "all should be treated, and all should be signed". Among them, 99.76% of the people who have been lifted out of poverty and the households monitored for the prevention of returning to poverty have received special treatment for serious diseases.

According to Wei Xiuzhen, a villager in Jiucheng Village was previously diagnosed with rectal cancer, and benefited from the special treatment for serious illnesses of the rural poor and underwent surgical treatment. The villager had a fistula, and she came to her home to provide nursing guidance, and the patient has never been infected, and his body has recovered well, and he can work and live normally.

At present, the Gansu Provincial Health Commission has made every effort to do a good job in the dynamic monitoring of the prevention of returning to poverty due to illness in view of the post-disaster reconstruction of Jishishan County, and timely implemented policies and measures such as special treatment for serious diseases and contract management of chronic diseases for the affected people in line with the health assistance policy. In addition, guide Jishishan County to continue to promote the implementation of the policy of "diagnosis and treatment before payment" for hospitalization in the county, and appropriately expand the scope of policy targets to reduce the burden of hospitalization payment on local rural people.

In Wei Xiuzhen's eyes, the villagers' road to health is getting wider and wider. "Thanks to the government's guarantee, the sick people who are in financial difficulties can receive medical assistance, and the villagers have more confidence to pursue a happy life." Wei Xiuzhen said.
