But on this basis, Su Shi thought about it one more step, and he felt that it was best to reduce the amount of silt in the West Lake, if the source of silt decreased, it could be cleaned up a few times in the future, wouldn't that be a good thing for the predecessors to plant and the descendants to enjoy the shade?
Then Su Shi discovered that there are many locals who grow lotus roots in the lake, and after harvesting every year, the rhizomes of these plants rot in the water, eventually forming lake mud. In addition to sediment deposits from rivers, this source of silt cannot be ignored.
But if it is one-size-fits-all and people are not allowed to farm here, it is not so good. Su Shi simply compromised, and in the lake water division, he set up a total of three stone towers in the deepest part of the lake, and drew a triangular area. There are no requirements outside the area, but no one is allowed to grow anything within this area.
Later, after a long time, these stone pagodas were destroyed, but they were rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty and have been preserved to this day. From ancient times to the present, people love to light lamps in the tower, and then under the moonlight, each other shines, one moon in the sky, three moons on the earth.
This is the origin of the name of the Three Pools Printing Moon. You may think that this name is not rigorous, does this have to be called the Three Towers and the Moon?
