A few days ago, the 10th emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution with 143 votes in favor and 9 votes against, affirming that Palestine is eligible to become a full member of the United Nations, and that starting in September this year, Palestine will be granted some rights other than voting rights to participate in the meeting.
Previously, Palestine had twice applied for formal membership in the United Nations, but in the end it did not pass the Security Council, and the United States exercised its veto power. Until now, the US side has made the same statement: Palestinian statehood can only be achieved through ceasefire negotiations with Israel.
