According to a number of Thai media sources, on May 11, the Thai Government Gazette announced the 2024 Upper House Election Decree issued by the 10th King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand, which is based on Article 107, Paragraph 5 and Article 175 of the Thai Constitution, the specific content is as follows:
1. Article 1: The Act is named "Act 2024 on the Election of Members of the House of Lords";
2. Article 2: The Decree shall enter into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette;
3. Article 3: Request for the election of members of the House of Lords;
4. Article 4: The Election of the Chairman of the Committee is required to act in accordance with the Act.
It is understood that the term of office of the last member of the upper house has expired on May 10, 2024, and according to Article 269(6) of the Thai Constitution, a new election of members should be held in accordance with Article 107 of the Constitution. Article 107, paragraph 5, of the Constitution, which stipulates that the election of members of Parliament shall be conducted in accordance with the Act, was enacted.
