Tangjiao Garden, located at the intersection of Pubei Road and Guilin Road in Xuhui District, has recently been renovated and officially opened to the public. This 3,329-square-meter park is named Tangjiao Garden because of its unique shape that resembles a "sugar horn" and the main feature of begonia plants in the green space.
The renovation aims to improve the overall environment and function of the park, solve the problems of insufficient children's activity facilities and outdated facilities and equipment at the original site, and alleviate the sense of spatial fragmentation caused by the new power station in the site. Therefore, Tangjiao Garden combined with the overhead line into the ground project, comprehensively upgraded the site, and created a pocket park with both ecological and leisure functions based on natural planting style.

The design strategy of Tangjiao Garden relies on the original natural conditions to divide the park into four functional areas: the entrance plaza on the south side, the time lawn, the children's activity area - the big tree gathering field and the understory space. Each area is connected to each other through the begonia flower path to form a streamer-like landscape arrangement, providing a beautiful leisure environment for the public.
The entrance plaza on the south side takes the newly planted black tree as the center point, and through the LOGO of Tangjiao Garden in the picture frame, the orange steel plate retaining wall and the existing large trees (Luanshu, Camphor and Magnolia), it forms an entrance area with a wide view, providing a good experience for the public to enter the park.
Time Lawn is the largest partition of Tangjiao Garden, which adopts a green slope terrain design, and a large area of lawn is laid to form a height difference between the outside and the inside. Tall trees and understory flowers are retained around the area to form an enclosed green valley, effectively isolating the noise of the road, and providing a quiet leisure space for the public.
The children's activity area - Big Tree Gathering is based on the three large camphor trees retained in the venue as the aggregation point, and a children's climbing wall and two slides are set up for children to play, while the cloud pavilion and stepped seats on the east side provide a place for parents to rest.
With its white appearance and light posture, the Cloud Pavilion of Tangjiao Garden has become the core highlight of the whole project, and it exudes an elegant and unique brilliance at night.
Walking into the begonia path from the square, the weeping silk begonias on both sides form a time and space tunnel-like plant space, and the endless summer hydrangeas and feather grass under the begonia trees form an elegant underwood atmosphere. On both sides of the flower path, the jumping colors formed by chrysanthemum chrysanthemum and hibiscus chrysanthemum form a silver pink system, which echoes the pink flower color of the weeping silk begonia, guiding everyone into the mysterious garden inside.
In terms of space plant design, the large trees in the Tangjiao Garden site were intervened to a minimum, and 1 black tree (south entrance square) and 2 oak trees (next to the east garden road and northwest garden road) were newly planted to enrich the plant species and landscape effect. At the same time, in terms of flowers and shrubs, 33 different species of begonias were added to form a rich begonia community and plant characteristics, which fully demonstrated the naming meaning of Tangjiao Garden.

The lower wood configuration is distributed in combination with natural and romantic atmosphere, using flowering plants such as hydrangea, iris, sage and fallen bride as the main ground cover species, and at the same time, flower tobacco, blue snowflake, centifolia and Chinese wood hydrangea are used as local highlights to decorate, creating a fresh and romantic experience of natural meadows for the public.
