The choir was established in 2023 with the intention of enriching the cultural life of students on campus. With the gradual maturity of the team, the choir has now become a cultural business card of Huayun Experimental School of Northeast Normal University.
In 2023, the choir won the Outstanding Performance Award at the First Citizen Choir Festival in Changchun, and the conductor won the Outstanding Conductor Award; In the same year, he participated in the chorus festival of Changchun Jingyue High-tech Zone and won the first prize.
Behind these achievements is the hard work and dedication of every member of the league, as well as the hard work and selfless dedication of teachers. The choir's rehearsal was "painful and happy". Every Wednesday school-based class is a fixed rehearsal time, but more often than not, members choose to use their lunch break to practice. Most of these children are in the third and fourth grades, and they are at a lively and active age, but they show a rare concentration and self-discipline in front of music.
In the choir, every child is experiencing growth and transformation. There was a female classmate who initially struggled with her studies and homework. Since joining the choir, in order to stick to her hobby, she has learned to arrange her time wisely so that she can complete her study tasks efficiently. There is also a male classmate, who used to be a "naughty ghost" in the eyes of the teachers, he loves to sing, in the team, his self-discipline ability has been significantly improved, and the role is extended to the classroom, music has become his motivation for self-improvement.
As the leader and conductor of the choir, Mr. Wang Jiaye has devoted a lot of effort to the development of the choir. Not only is she responsible for the day-to-day rehearsals and teaching, but she is also constantly exploring how to integrate the students into the choir faster and better. She used the fragments to explain the staff to the students and tried various ways to help them improve their choral skills. In terms of song selection, Ms. Wang Jiaye is even more selective, not only considering the preferences of the students, but also ensuring that the vocal range and style of the songs are suitable for them to sing.
This season, the choir has prepared two songs in foreign languages – "kuku ue" and "chum bara". The two songs are very different in style, "Kuku Ue" with its South African-style irregular rhythm and backbeat, while "Chum Bara" is a cheerful French children's folk song. For the children, this is a new attempt and challenge.
