Burnley were relegated after a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Vincent Kompany's side needed a win to have any hopes of catching Nottingham Forest and escaping the relegation zone, but despite taking the lead earlier, failed to secure the three points needed to keep their hopes alive. Burnley became the second team to be relegated from the Premier League this season after Sheffield United returned to the Championship in April.

For Burnley, it was a sign of their immediate return to the second tier after a difficult season, with them parting ways with many of the players who initially helped them qualify.

Vincent Kompany remains at the helm but finds himself under immediate pressure after losing 3-0 to defending champions Manchester City on the opening day of the season. Burnley will soon beat Luton Town but have lost 10 games in a row and drawn one in their next 11 matches, leaving Clarence as relegation candidates.

They were eventually confirmed to return to the Championship in the penultimate matchweek, with Burnley winning just five of their 37 games at the time of relegation. The last relegation spot remains, with Luton Town and Forest struggling to avoid becoming the third and final relegated teams.

Luton's fate could be revealed as early as Saturday afternoon. Defeat to West Ham left them three points behind Forest, who could secure their survival with a draw with Chelsea later in the day.

If Forest lose to Chelsea, the relegation race will continue until the last day of the season. Luton Town must beat Fulham to have any hope of survival, while Forest will only need a point against Burnley if they can't get the job done on Saturday. Having said that, Forest have a significantly larger goal difference compared to Luton Town and are favourites to avoid relegation to the Championship.
