The Xili Lake Greenway is an important carrier of the Xili Lake ecological ring in the "One Ring, One Belt and Three Groups" of Xili Lake International Science and Education City, connecting the main parks, universities, scientific research institutions, communities and industries in the Science and Education City, and forming a corridor tour system of "three backbones and multiple branches" with Balcony Mountain, Dasha River Water Corridor, Shenzhen Bay Leisure Belt and Tanglang Mountain.

Last year, the demonstration section of the greenway around Xili Lake was completed and opened, with a total length of 3.7 kilometers, starting from the Dasha River Ecological Corridor, going north along Xili Lake Road, passing through the Xili Lake archway, walking through the plank road of Qinyuan Road, and connecting the Yanqing Creek Blue Road in Damhom.
On the basis of the original landscape ecology of the Blue Road, the demonstration section is creatively designed, forming five theme experience sections such as "following the water", "passing through the forest", "seeing the lake", "tracing the river" and "asking the mountain", providing visitors with different landscape experiences.
The non-demonstration section of the second phase is about 12 kilometers, and after completion, it will connect the head and tail of the demonstration section and form a closed loop around the Xili Reservoir.
Ouyang Jingyuan, a designer of the Landscape Institute of Shenzhen Urban Transportation Planning and Design Research Center Co., Ltd., said that the second phase of the non-demonstration section is under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. At that time, the public will have a richer experience of being close to nature and enjoying green benefits.

In the construction process, a large number of green environmental protection materials are used, viewing stations, rest pavilions and other building facilities avoid woodland trees, and the bus stops within the project scope are shortened according to the environment, so as to avoid damage and disturbance to the surrounding environment to the greatest extent, maintain the original natural features of Xili Lake and its surroundings, and create an ecological corridor with "clear water and green shores, shallow bottoms of fish, abundant aquatic plants, and flocks of egrets".
The overall project takes ecological protection and ecological restoration as an important premise, adheres to the principle of natural suburbs and minimal intervention, and fully excavates the water culture corridors, ecological corridors and leisure corridors with historical and cultural characteristics of the surrounding areas of the greenway to create a multi-level greenway trail system, rich activity experience space and convenient and comfortable supporting system, forming a spatial pattern of "one ring and nine scenes".
The Xili Lake Greenway connects the Dasha River Ecological Corridor and the Provincial No. 2 Greenway, and has been incorporated into the Wanli Blue Road System of Guangdong Province, realizing the connection of different greenway systems and promoting the protection of regional ecological green space and the construction of ecological network system. The greenway connects natural elements such as nature reserves, forest parks, country parks, lakes and reservoirs, forming an ecological home that accommodates nearly 10,000 species of wild animals and plants, and promotes the harmonious coexistence of man and nature.
