A few days ago, the basic exhibition of "Small Actions, Big Changes" of the WorldSkills Museum stood out among the 35 exhibitions declared by 32 cultural and museum units in the city, and won the 2023 Shanghai Museum Exhibition Boutique Recommendation.

WorldSkills Museum
Jointly established by WorldSkills, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People's Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the WorldSkills Museum is the only official museum of WorldSkills and the first professional museum named after "skills" in China and even in the world. The museum is mainly aimed at young audiences from all over the world, including China, and is the World Skills Exhibition Center, the World Skills Cooperation and Exchange Center, the Official Documentation Center of the World Skills Organization and the Youth Education Base, and will also be an important platform for exchanges and mutual learning between China and other countries in the field of skills. Since its official opening in November 2023, the WorldSkills Museum in Shanghai has received extensive attention and concern from all walks of life at home and abroad.
With the theme of "Small Actions, Big Changes", the permanent exhibition of the WorldSkills Museum focuses on the collaborative innovation of "hands, brains, and hearts". The museum has six core exhibition areas: Tools and Our World, Successful Global Movement, Skills Development and China, Skills for a Better World, Skills and Basic Science, and Skills and the Industrial Revolution.
Although the skill is small, it has ten thousand powers. Ordinary people like me are changing the world. Find the foothold of "small but fine" in the grand narrative, and interpret these "small greatness" through the idea of seeing "big" with "small", and condense the spirit of human social development and skill inheritance in one museum.
The first exhibition area uses small moments when human beings pick up stones to make tools, reflecting the great era of human civilization. The second exhibition area starts with the "small" people in the technology industry and tells the development process of "big" organizations around the world; The third exhibition area focuses on the germination of ingenuity among Chinese craftsmen and the mission of helping the rise of a great country; The fourth exhibition area reflects the vision of building a better world with skills with each skill practice case; The fifth exhibition area is from a small number of calculations and scientific knowledge, interpreting skills to help build a super project. The sixth exhibition area uses the historical facts of the front-line skilled workers to promote the great development of the industrial revolution, and shows the broad future that skills can create.
The exhibits are the soul of a museum, and the shaping of the soul is inseparable from the in-depth excavation of the story behind it and the display and expression for the audience. For the museum's collection of more than 2,000 valuable skills-related items from 39 member countries and regions on five continents of WorldSkills and global partners, the content research team focused on discovering the story behind each exhibit and shaping the soul of the museum little by little. The WorldSkills Museum leverages WorldSkills' global collaboration resources to focus on skills exhibits from around the world and tell skills stories from a global perspective. At present, more than 800 exhibits are on display in the permanent exhibition.

Different from the traditional physical exhibition method, the WorldSkills Museum adopts creative display and innovative technology to create an experiential and interactive interesting and creative display through technology activation. Stimulate the interest of visitors, combine scientific and technological wisdom, form an innovative exhibition experience, comprehensively enhance the interaction and participation of visitors, effectively convey display information, and create a rich exhibition experience.
A large number of digital technologies such as holographic projection, infrared interaction, artificial intelligence, CG special effects, human-computer interaction, naked-eye 3D, and big data visualization are widely used in the construction of museums. In particular, the skills practice experience area on the fourth floor not only brings a more vivid and shocking visual experience, but also unlocks many novel and fun interactive experience activities to meet the needs of all kinds of visitors, so that they can be immersed in the scene and fully feel the wonder and greatness of skills.
The World Skills Museum is a window and symbol to show the history, current situation and future development trend of skills around the world, shouldering the mission of facing the world, facing the future and facing young people, and is committed to conveying the concept of "skills make dreams come true, skills change lives" to young people around the world, stimulate more people to be interested in skills, and guide contemporary young people to devote themselves to modern skills work.
