The sea was calm, but there was a "fierce battle" over the stage. It has been learned that a US military plane flew directly into the airspace over Orchid Island in the eastern part of Taiwan Island without informing the Chinese side, and PLA military planes were conducting regular inspections in this area at that time. As soon as the two sides met, the Continental Army plane immediately shouted: US military plane, please note that I am a Chinese military plane, and the area where you are is is in Chinese airspace, please explain your intentions and leave quickly.
In this regard, the US Air Force said very calmly: Take it easy. Translation in the words of the Chinese means that there is something to say, don't look at the US military to say it quite easily, but in fact, it is panicked in the heart. If it fights the Chinese Air Force in this place, the US Air Force will not want to go back.
Although the People's Liberation Army (PLA) succeeded in driving the US Air Force away, it aroused a high degree of resentment from the Taiwan side. This group of people thinks that the PLA's move is completely meddlesome, and we are happy to enter the airspace over Taiwan Island.
The United States wants to support Lai Qingde, but it does not dare to directly confront the mainland
There are still 10 days left for Lai Qingde to take office, and the United States is again sending warships into the Taiwan Strait and sending military planes to fly over eastern Taiwan, all in an attempt to support Lai Qingde and ensure that his inauguration ceremony can proceed smoothly.
On 20 May, Lai Ching-te is bound to take advantage of the inauguration ceremony to make it clear that he rejects the "one-China principle" and does not accept the "Taiwan independence" declaration that Taiwan and the mainland should be two independent "countries and regions" and that they should not be mixed up.
Although Lai Qingde's attitude towards "Taiwan independence" is more resolute than that of Tsai Ing-wen, as far as the United States is concerned, it is better to insist on "Taiwan independence" than to be pro-China. Therefore, the US side is bound to do everything possible to ensure that Lai Qingde can smoothly ascend to the post on the premise of not having a firepower conflict with the PLA.
In other words, there should be a lot of things like this sending military aircraft and ships in the next ten days. However, the US military planes did not expect that they would all run to the Taitung area, and they would still be able to run into the PLA.
The reason for this idea is that PLA military planes have never flown to eastern Taiwan before, and the biggest reason is related to the range. According to the previous flight range of the PLA's military aircraft, it was impossible to enter the eastern part of Taiwan at all. Therefore, the appearance of the US military plane in Taitung this time is probably also with the mentality of supporting Lai Qingde and not clashing with the PLA. However, they did not expect that the PLA military aircraft would now be able to fly so far and directly cross Taiwan.
At the same time, such a discovery also made the Taiwan military feel very broken. Previously, because PLA military planes could not enter the Taitung area, the Taiwan army used Lanyu as a "military fortress".
According to Li Zhengjie, a retired general from Taiwan, Lanyu is a place where the combat strength of Taiwan's air force is preserved, and if a war breaks out between the two sides of the strait, Taiwan's air force and navy, including the United States and Japan's aid to Taiwan, will have to pass through Lanyu. Both Zhang Yanting and Li Zhengjie have made a relatively good analysis, and under the condition that the "Taiwan independence" elements have not been resolved, cross-strait relations are doomed to not return to the past. From now on, Taiwan will not have any privacy in front of the mainland, and everything will be under the control of the PLA.
