On May 9, local time, the world's No. 1 Chinese powerhouse Wang Sun Yingsha/Wang Chuqin won the first championship produced by the 2024 WTT Saudi Table Tennis Grand Slam, and they completed the mixed doubles summit in a convincing way. The top seeds won the green trophy in the mixed doubles final with a 3-0 (11-6, 11-6, 11-16) win over world No.7 Hong Kong's To Hoi-king/Wong Chun-ting.

Jeddah's victory extended the pair's unbeaten streak at WTT Majors. Earlier this year, the pair also won the Singapore Grand Slam in 2024, adding to their victories in the Lion City in 2022 and 2023. The world-ranked pair now boast four WTT Grand Slam trophies, further cementing their position as the most dominant mixed doubles pair in the world.

Looking back on the championship process of this tournament, the two have been hanging their opponents from beginning to end and moving forward. Top seeds Sun Yingsha/Wang Chuqin are inexplicable on the court, knowing that their opponents haven't even taken a game away from them. That's an improvement on their previous best WTT Grand Slam result, which they lost one game on their way to the Singapore Grand Slam this year.

"My match with Sasha was much more positive and focused than yesterday. Although the score was 3-0, our opponents were indeed the strongest pair in the world. We've played against them a lot before and are familiar with each other's games. I believe we did better today in terms of serve, return, front three boards and hold. Wang Chuqin said after the game.

While Dui Hoi Kim/Wong were unable to complete a fairytale match in Jeddah, the No.6 seed also had a stellar journey in Saudi Arabia. On their way to the final, they defeated the likes of France's Yuan Jianan/Lebrun and Sweden's Carlberg/Carlsen.

With a green trophy added to the Champions Collection, Sun Yingsha/Wang Chuqin will turn their attention to the next WTT Grand Slam – the WTT China Grand Slam – which will take place from September 26 to October 6 at Beijing's Shijingshan Shougang Park, where the world's best mixed doubles pair will surely have their sights set on completing a sweep of the 2024 Grand Slam title.

Sun Yingsha and Wang Chuqin, who have already won a championship, are not over in the 2024 WTT Saudi Table Tennis Grand Slam. Among them, Sun Yingsha is still a contender for the women's singles championship, while Wang Chuqin is a contender for the men's singles and men's doubles championships.
