It's a good time to grow patchouli. A few days ago, the village secretary of Jiudong Village, Huaibao Town, Rongshui Miao Autonomous County, led the villagers to use abandoned land to interplant patchouli seedlings.
Cao Lizheng, the person in charge of the base and secretary of the general party branch of Jiudong Village, introduced: "Patchouli likes warmth and is afraid of frost, and the suitable temperature for growth is 18 °C-32 °C per year. The average temperature of Huaibao Town is above 20 °C, and it has the natural advantages of abundant water, fertile soil and sufficient sunshine, which provides unique geographical and climatic conditions for the development of patchouli planting. This year, it is planned to interplant 200 acres of patchouli, 1,000 to 1,200 trees can be planted per mu, and the yield per mu is expected to be about 2,000 catties after drying, and the income per mu is about 9,000 yuan."
In recent years, in order to stimulate the enthusiasm of the masses for farming and transform the abandoned land into a "fertile soil" for the masses to increase income, Huaibao Town has actively adjusted and improved industrial institutions in combination with the soil and climate characteristics of the town, integrated abandoned land resources, and remediated abandoned land to interplant corn and patchouli in accordance with the development model of "company + farmer", taking Jiudong Village as a planting sample, renovating abandoned land and interplanting corn and patchouli, driving economic development and injecting vitality into rural revitalization. Up to now, the town has accumulated an area of about 250 acres of patchouli, and the annual output is expected to reach more than 200 tons.
