Both the total number of participants and the number of finishers increased
In 2023, the total number of participants will reach 6,051,900, with the largest number of participants in the half marathon.
The 2023 marathon and half marathons have seen a significant increase in participation. The number of runners in the marathon and half marathon reached 970,030, which not only reflects the popularity of running, but also marks the continuous improvement of national health awareness.
From 2018 to 2023, the number of marathon and half marathon finishers has shown a year-on-year upward trend. Specifically, the cumulative number of finishers in the marathon has reached 641,700, and the cumulative number of finishers in the half marathon has reached 1,859,000.
The number of people who broke 3 in Malaysia grew to 11,897
According to the statistics, the number of people who broke the 3 in the whole marathon increased to 11,897 compared to last year, and a total of 56,520 people managed to complete the race in 3 hours and 30 minutes.
In the half marathon event, 26,193 runners completed the race in 1 hour and 30 minutes, and 337,881 runners completed the race in 2 hours, a significant increase compared to 2022.
Average half marathon results
Of particular note is the improvement in average finish times. The average finish time for the full marathon is 4 hours, 12 minutes and 08 seconds, while the half marathon is 2 hours, 8 minutes and 20 seconds, both of which are an improvement from last year, reflecting the overall training level and competition strategy of the participants.
