Rumors have been ongoing that Apple will adopt under-display Face ID on the iPhone, with display analyst Ross Young previously predicting that the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will be the first iPhone models to feature an under-display Face ID/single punch display.
However, Ross Young recently revealed on the X platform that this plan has been postponed to 2026. That said, it won't be until the iPhone 18 Pro series generation to see the under-display Face ID design, another year late......
This also means that the "Dynamic Island" design, which first appeared on the iPhone 14 Pro, will be used for another two years. Sure enough, a four-year tradition of design can't escape after all, but I don't know if the progress of the iPhone base model to follow up on this design has been delayed because of this.
After under-display Face ID, the next step is the under-display camera. It is reported that Apple will adopt the under-display camera technology developed by LG Innotek after 2026, and the iPhone at that time will be the under-screen Face ID+ under-screen camera, that is, the true full screen.
It's important to note that the above is just analyst Ross Young's predictions, and the jury is still out on whether the iPhone 18 Pro will be able to use Face ID on the upper and lower displays, but almost all the rumors point to the same conclusion: the technology is much more distant than we expected.
In addition, there are some new news on the iPhone 16 series. Recently, French phone case company ShopSystem shared pictures of the new iPhone 16 module, revealing that there may be a small but noteworthy change in the new MagSafe charging ring.
As you can see from the pictures, the iPhone 16 series has a significantly thinner charging ring and a smaller outer diameter. ShopSystem believes that this change may mean that Apple's wireless charging technology will help reduce the size while maintaining or improving charging performance.
It is worth mentioning that it has been previously revealed that the iPhone 16 series will be upgraded in terms of charging, and it is expected that the power of MagSafe magnetic wireless charging will be increased from 15W to 20W, and wired charging will also be upgraded to 40W.
The battery capacity has also been adjusted, with the standard version increased from the current 3349mAh to 3561mAh, an increase of 6%, and the Super Large Cup Pro Max increased from 4422mAh to 4676mAh, an increase of 5%. Plus drops to 4006mAh, a 9% drop.
What is puzzling is that the battery capacity of Plus does not increase but decreases, after all, battery life is its biggest highlight. And after this bright spot is weakened, if Apple does not carry out "breakthrough" upgrades in other aspects, its product power will inevitably decline.
