Top 3 reasons to choose to go abroad
1) In the summer vacation of the sophomore to the junior year, I went to a design institute in Nanjing for 3 months for an internship, although this design institute is a relatively easy design institute, but the work done every day is very mechanical, and there is more overtime from time to time, Party A will be bombarded with phone at 11 o'clock in the evening to let you change the drawing.
2) After the outbreak of the epidemic, my college life was spent in lockdown and lockdown from the end of my sophomore year to graduation, and most of it was online classes, and I wanted to feel the real college learning.
3) After the economic downturn after the epidemic, domestic construction employment is very sluggish, and there is more overtime and less pay. In the past, there may have been a chance to run to real estate, but now the real estate has thundered, which has become the last straw that crushed the camel, and now design institutes and firms are laying off a large number of employees and reducing salaries, and the career development of the domestic architecture profession in the future is confused.
Why choose Canada?
Because of Xiangrun, Canada's immigration channels are relatively diverse, providing a variety of immigration pathways for those majoring in architecture, such as EE, Provincial Nominee Program, experience immigration, etc. (Although the nomination policy of the provinces is constantly locked, and the EE score is very high). Canada provides work permits for international students after graduation, and many colleges and universities have co-op programs, so that students can gain work experience in the field of architectural design in Canada to lay the foundation for future immigration applications, and at the same time earn a little pocket money. Moreover, Canada is a multicultural country with a high degree of tolerance for all kinds of groups. At that time, I applied for Australia because the Canadian application was very metaphysical, so I chose Australia as the backup plan, Australia's climate is much better than Canada's, and there is no such terrible tax.

Which program do you want to do the most?
UBC and Waterloo's MArch. UBC can't say why, it's just that I like it. Shuilu is because there is co-op. You can adapt to the Canadian working environment in advance and prepare for your future job search.

Exam PTE 69

The central idea of the portfolio
The collection does not have a main melody, it can be said that it is more miscellaneous, renovation, rural construction, planning, public construction have, but almost all of them have implemented two central ideas: Building up a sustainable living environment for residents and ensuring we are making good use of precious land As large-scale top-down planning comes to an end, we are gradually transitioning to bottom-up spatial design, from collectivized spaces to more independent and autonomous spaces, which require more consideration of people's feelings of use.
1. Crazy boxes
This is a competition work in the undergraduate period, and it was finally changed and put into the portfolio. This project is a factory renovation project, through the implantation of frames, to provide residents with a public learning space while preserving the historic building, the model was completed in the gap year, thank you Photographer Zuo for staying up late for two days to help me complete the shooting of this work.
2. The Field Pavilion
In 23 years, he participated in the sub-project of Fengwu Season Rural Action - Tianye Station. The scheme as a whole adopts the form of two symmetrical triangles in the center, with half of the slope made of wood for steps and half of the roof paved with tiles, which naturally distinguishes the post station into two spaces with different temperaments. The footsteps are directly connected to the earth, and light and air penetrate through the gaps in the steps, which is natural and transparent, and the platform is built with logs under the tile surface, and the upper seat is deliberately raised above the head, which is man-made and quiet. Two different spatial experiences are contrasted in the fields and the countryside. We hope that through this concept of "half and half", we can create a rugged and quiet temperament of the field station.
3. In The Name of Rebel’s Soul
In response to the inadequate lockdown and growing discontent, spontaneous demonstrations began to erupt in various places. The rallies became a form of protest against the authorities' handling of the situation, kicking off a standoff between the public and the government. One of these projects is called OP - The Architectural Diptych. The design is a power experience hall that recreates the conflict scene through two different perspectives (public-authority), from gatherings to speeches to conflicts and arrests. In the pavilion, visitors can choose to play the role of an authority or a mass (choose from a variety of circulations), giving them a comprehensive view of the development of the whole event. When visitors step into the building, they feel as if they are witnessing history playing out again. This is not to ask people to make a clear judgment of right and wrong, but to encourage everyone to seek their own understanding.
5. Everything Grows
The last project is a planning project. With the development of modernization, Guli Village is facing the problems of water fragmentation and environmental pollution, which has led to inconvenient transportation for residents and slow production. To solve this problem, I designed a "highway" that could connect residents through the study of slime molds. Slime molds have an instinct to survive, and in the early stages, they reach out with multiple antennae to detect food around them. Once the food is found, the other antennae disappear. Using this mechanism, we can find a fast channel to connect the villagers and speed up the efficiency of material exchange.
最满意的项目:Metabolic Mediators
Metabolic Mediators
Based on the concept of "metabolic media", the renovation project of Longchang apartment community is a social practice to solve the common residential problem of old urban communities in China. To convert waste into energy, a new waste treatment system will be installed within the community, creating a closed-loop virtuous cycle. Secondly, in order to enrich the living experience of residents, more flexible service units will be applied, which will promote spatial diversity, increase the compatibility and accessibility of the community with nearby facilities, and improve the living environment of the old community.
The community service center uses waste as a medium and the building as a carrier to seamlessly integrate recycling systems and service units. Residents collect points by recycling waste and use them to participate in various community activities, creating a virtuous cycle. Residents are encouraged to use the system more often and earn more points as a reward that allows them to enjoy more community services.
How do I decompress during the application process?
Watch the happy puppy poop.
Application experience
I'm not busy in the morning, I panic at night, and I get up in the middle of the night to mend my crotch.
Words to the younger students
The process of making a portfolio is to re-examine yourself, and in the end, you will find that your previous ideas are very naïve, and now when you hear that others use slime algorithms, wool algorithms, and discrete principles, this bunch of fake and empty things will PTSD (although I used to like these non-nutritious things), and there is the narrative that every self-media has to stir up, architecture is architecture, what is the narrative? It's better to make a few experiences of comfortable space and logical circulation, and please stop being moved by yourself (of course, I'm also scolding my former self). I think that whether it is a portfolio or a study work, we should return to the material, space, and structure, so as to provide a better user experience. The handmade model is really important, whether it is the early study or the later presentation, it can be very intuitive to show the project content. Of course, after work, Party A will be my father.
And again, 早点准备英语。
Final thanks
Thank you mom and dad, grandparents for your unconditional love and support.
Thank you, Zuo Baba, for staying up until 5 o'clock for two days 24 hours before graduation and going home to help me shoot the model, sorry for taking up the time you and your friends have a drink. Thank you for every model shoot in the past 5 years and thank you for taking me to Dutar at 12am for treating my stomach pain.
Thank you Yao Zhi for coming to Nanjing from Xiamen to help me carry the lantern during the Dragon Boat Festival, and thank you for never letting me get drenched in the rain after the botanical garden.
Thank you OYJH for this qualified competition partner and great teammates.
Thank you Yu Libin for encouraging me when I was messing around.
Finally, I would like to thank Mr. Long, who has helped me a lot in terms of my portfolio and applying to schools, so that I can find self-confidence when I was not confident, and let me gradually learn more about Canada.
