On May 1, 1919, the "Morning Post" supplement published the "Labor Day Commemorative Issue", which was the first time that Chinese newspapers and periodicals publicized the commemoration of May Day.
On May 1, 1920, Li Dazhao, Deng Zhongxia and others took the Second Courtyard of Peking University as the activity center to organize and carry out speeches and other Labor Day commemorative activities in the red fertile soil of Dongcheng. On the same day, the magazine "New Youth" launched the "Labor Day Commemorative Issue", Cai Yuanpei, then president of Peking University, inscribed on the title page "Labor is sacred", and Li Dazhao, China's earliest Marxist communicator, published "History of the May Day Movement", calling on Chinese workers to take this year's "May Day" as the date of awakening.
More than 100 years later, nearly 10,000 people walked into the old red site of Dongcheng to participate in the 2024 May Day series of activities of the Dongcheng Red Pavilion of "Youth Shines in Sweat, Spirit is Brilliant in Inheritance", and uses the way of research and treasure hunting to re-take the road of awakening, celebrate the "May Day" Labor Day, inherit the red history, and carry forward the great spirit of party building and labor.

The former site of the Second Institute of Peking University (formerly the Department of Mathematics of Peking University), together with the Red House of Peking University (Memorial Hall of the Early Beijing Revolutionary Activities of the Communist Party of China) and the former site of the Sino-French University, jointly launched the research activity of "Re-taking the Road of Awakening of the Founding of the Party and Feeling the Red Study of the History of the Party".

In addition, the volunteers of the "Ideal Club" during the "May Day" holiday also actively "worked" at the old red site, patiently guided, provided meticulous service, and created a good visiting environment for the audience with a good mental outlook and full of service enthusiasm.
History is the best textbook and the best sobering agent. On the special day of "May Day", the audience is invited to return to the red site full of traces of time, listen to and learn the party's century-old history of struggle, so that they can strengthen their ideals and beliefs and draw strength from the great spirit of party building, model workers, labor spirit, craftsman spirit and other red spirits.
