In the late 80s of the last century, Comrade Pan Jianping and I worked together in the 335th Regiment of the 112th Division, and both of them were transferred from the units directly under the division to the divisional organs, and then from the divisional organs to the 335th Regiment. What many comrades don't know is that his father, Comrade Pan Guangxi, who was then deputy political commissar of the division's logistics department, was also an old leader of our division's direct communications battalion, but I was a new recruit who had just joined the army, and he was a long-tested veteran revolutionary who had come from the war years. Moreover, it was not long before the old leader was promoted. With hundreds of people in a battalion and such a short time together, it is rare for him to leave a mark on us recruits, but the imprint of several battalion leaders on our hearts is extraordinary and extremely profound.
The communications battalion is highly specialized and has high requirements for personal quality, but due to the influence of its work and establishment, the way out for cadres is relatively narrow. During that period, there were very few leaders who were transferred out of the communications battalion and promoted to larger units and held higher positions. The old leader Pan was promoted to deputy political commissar of the logistics department of the division, and the whole battalion vied with each other to praise it, and they all regarded this as the glory of the communications battalion collective, and I was greatly encouraged.
Due to differences in age, qualifications, and positions, I was unable to establish a deep friendship with the old leaders in the communications battalion. Whenever the signal corps, who are called "clairvoyants and ears to the wind," they are always deeply proud, and they are more casual when they meet, talk, and do things. The secretarial section is the agency responsible for the administrative management of the Political Department, and it has a lot of contacts with the logistics department.
I remember that when I was first transferred to the cadre section, I always wanted to do something practical for everyone. I was very interested in seeing the wooden simple sofa in the office of Section Chief Zhao of the Barracks Section, so I opened my mouth to him in Zhao's office and stretched out my hand. When he was grinding hard and hard, Deputy Political Commissar Pan came in. With the presence of the old leader, I was confident, and my waist was stiff, so I shook out the matter of asking Section Chief Zhao to help make the sofa. Deputy Political Commissar Pan said casually without hesitation that the conditions of the cadre section are poor, and there are many people who usually come here, so it really needs to be improved. Section Chief Zhao was obedient and listened to the voice, understood the leader's intention quickly, and his attitude immediately changed, and he said a few words, "easy to say, easy to say". (This is the mantra of Section Chief Zhao, and at that time, the mantra of Section Chief Hu of the Transportation Section was "That's not good", and the mantra of Section Chief Zhang of the Management Section was, "Why didn't you say it earlier")
Soon, a simple long wooden sofa appeared in my office, making it much easier to pick up and serve people. Moreover, as far as I know, since then, this simple long wooden sofa has also accompanied Che Xueming and other section chiefs. Although it has long been replaced by new office equipment, the memory left to our generation will always be so vivid, and with this relationship, the division party committee decided to appoint Comrade Pan Jianping as the commander of the third battalion of our regiment, and I am very happy in my heart, and I firmly believe that he will not disappoint the expectations and requirements.
Sure enough, as soon as he took office, he rolled up his sleeves and worked hard, and cooperated with the instructor Wei Maorong, and worked together, after unremitting efforts, the spirit of the whole battalion was renewed, and all work was ahead. In particular, when the Third Battalion carried out its tasks in Beijing that year, under the organization and leadership of him and his instructor Comrade Wei Maorong, the whole battalion was widely praised at all levels for carrying out the instructions and accomplishing the tasks outstandingly, and was awarded the collective third-class meritorious service. Dozens of cadres and soldiers were awarded first, second, and third-class meritorious service, and he himself was awarded second-class meritorious service as the outstanding cadre of the whole regiment. A few years ago, when he went to Xinzhou to visit his old comrades-in-arms, Comrade Wei Maorong recalled those past events in the army, and mentioned many times that working with Pan Jianping was particularly smooth and easy, and his feelings were very unforgettable.
The hard work has paid off, and they have worked hard and worked hard to win wide praise from the officers and men of the troops, and their excellent quality and excellent performance have also been unanimously recognized by the party committees at all levels. Soon after, he was recommended to study at the Nanjing Army Command College, and after graduating and returning to the unit one year later, he was soon promoted to chief of staff of the regiment when the regimental team was adjusted. In the first half of 1991, he was reappointed as deputy head of the regiment.
The position of deputy is not imaginary, but it is not easy to be in place without being offside. Comrade Jianping has a relatively good grasp of this aspect, and he dares to grasp and manage the work within the scope of his duties, and he does not push the strings and induce the work temporarily arranged by the chief officers and leaders, nor does he act on his own. Although this work progressed smoothly under the responsibility of Comrade Zhao Hua, the former deputy head of the regiment, and laid a good foundation, the workload in the later stage was still very large, and it was very arduous to maintain the continuity of the work, to ensure that the construction period was completed on schedule, and to achieve quality and safety in place. Due to his quick entry, scientific and thorough organization and strict requirements for on-site follow-up operations, he ensured the smooth progress of the construction and achieved the basic goal of high quality, safety and efficiency determined by his superiors. Later, after a serious and comprehensive inspection by the relevant departments of the Beijing Military Region, it finally won the crown of "excellent project" in the whole region.
In September 1990, I left my post to study at the National Defense University, and then went on an inter-regional exchange to work in the Lanzhou Military Region. Although the promotion has been arranged, bidding farewell to the old army that has worked and living for more than 20 years, leaving the old comrades-in-arms who get along day and night is still very uncomfortable, and I am reluctant to give up. Far away, inconvenient to contact, but let go of the constant thoughts in my heart. The development and changes of the old troops and old comrades-in-arms always affect my heart. I received timely information on the special honors received by the troops in carrying out major tasks, and the promotions and departures of several leaders of the regimental leadership through various means. In particular, I was very happy to learn that Comrade Jianping had been promoted to the post of director of the division's logistics department and had joined the leading collective of the division's standing committee, but I also felt sorry for him. During the years I worked in the division, I knew very well that the logistics department's business was complicated, its stalls were large, and there were many contradictions accumulated in history, and it was a hard nut to crack, and this was indeed a difficult test for him.
There is a diamond at home, and you dare to work with magnets. I don't know what magic weapon Pan Jianping has, but it didn't take long for the logistics department to undergo obvious changes under his leadership. The people's hearts are united, the style of work has changed, the work efficiency has been improved, and the consciousness of serving the grassroots has been enhanced. Although I left the old army and did not experience it firsthand, I was convinced by the information that many old comrades-in-arms often fed back to me. In particular, I learned that during his eight years as director of the division's logistics department, he was awarded two third-class meritorious services, and that in 1999 he was appraised as an advanced individual in the vegetable basket project by the Beijing Military Region Headquarters, Political Department, Logistics Department, and Equipment Department. This is a high appreciation and comprehensive affirmation of his work performance by higher-level leaders and party committees at all levels, and it is also the reward he deserves for his unchanging dedication and courageous struggle.
Comrade Jianping was born into a family of veteran revolutionary cadres and was nurtured by orthodox ideology since he was a child, and his style of acting and the way he conducted affairs reflected the fine traditions and work style of the veteran army in many places. He is sincere, low-key, unassuming, and does not show off, and everyone reflects that he does not have the frame of a cadre's son; he is open-minded and generous; everyone reflects that he is humble and kind, easy to contact, and can tolerate people and things; he is conscientious and responsible for his work, has achievements, and dares to take responsibility, and everyone calls him a desperate Saburo; he is always so enthusiastic, thoughtful, and meticulous to his comrades-in-arms and comrades, and everyone reflects that he always has a fire in his chest. Whether it is in the division's organs, the division's directly subordinate units, or the 335th Regiment, the response is very good, and he is recognized by everyone as a good cadre with comprehensive quality, outstanding personality, noble quality, vigor, and achievements.
Looking back on my decades of military career, I have been associated with Comrade Pan Jianping for a long time, and I have received more support and care from him, and I especially cannot forget the repentance and love of the old chief Pan Guangxi. This is really "a comrade-in-arms for life, a love affair between two lives" The golden years were yesterday, and they are always worth remembering!
