On May 1, a reporter from the China Securities Journal learned that on the afternoon of April 30, Huawei issued an internal personnel adjustment document, announcing that Yu Chengdong would serve as the chairman of the terminal BG, and He Gang, the former chief operating officer of Huawei terminal BG, would take over as the CEO of Huawei terminal BG.

People familiar with the matter told reporters that Huawei has a sound internal governance structure, and this appointment for normal management can allow Yu Chengdong to have more energy to create high-quality products for consumers.

According to Huawei's official website, Yu Chengdong was born in 1969 and graduated from Tsinghua University with a master's degree. Mr. Li joined Huawei in 1993 and has served as Director of 3G Products, Vice President of Wireless Product Marketing, President of Wireless Product Line, President of Europe Region, and President of Strategy & Marketing. Prior to the personnel adjustment, Yu Chengdong served as CEO of Huawei Device BG, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Intelligent Vehicle Solution BU, and Director of Intelligent Device and Intelligent Vehicle Components IRB.

In terms of terminal business, Huawei has been adhering to the "1+8+N" all-scenario smart life strategy with smartphones as its core products for many years. Among them, 1 represents mobile phones, 8 represents tablets, PCs, VR devices, wearable devices, smart screens, smart audio, smart speakers, and car machines, and N represents pan-IoT devices. In 2023, against the backdrop of Huawei's mobile phone business returning to the market, Huawei's device business performed as expected, with sales revenue of 251.5 billion yuan, up 17.3% year-on-year.

At present, Huawei's mobile phone business has begun to rebound. Canalys, a market research firm, reported that in the first quarter of 2024, China's smartphone market picked up, with shipments unchanged from the same period last year to 67.7 million units. Among them, thanks to the enthusiastic market response of the Mate and nova series, Huawei shipped 11.7 million mobile phones, with a market share of 17%. After 13 quarters, Huawei has regained the No. 1 market share in China.

According to IDC, a market research institution, with the comprehensive upgrade of Huawei's P series to the Pura series in the second quarter, the Pura 70 series, which starts again with a new attitude, is expected to help Huawei's shipments continue to increase rapidly.
