In the 2023 "Report on the High-quality Development of China's Digital Economy" released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on April 28, JD Group, as one of the representatives of new entity enterprises, was listed as a "new subject of rural revitalization" by virtue of its long-term solid investment in rural digital construction, and was the only e-commerce enterprise selected for the report.
On the same day, the Institute of Financial Strategy of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences hosted a seminar on "Digital Economy Helps Rural Revitalization" in Beijing and released the "Report on the High-Quality Development of China's Digital Economy (2023)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report").
According to the report, digital technology and digital economy have become important driving forces for rural revitalization, gradually improving the quality and efficiency of supply chains, industrial chains and value chains in rural areas of mainland China.
In this process, a series of new entity enterprises represented by JD.com, Huawei, China Unicom, etc., have emerged that have the genes and attributes of physical enterprises, have innovative digital technologies, and fully open up their own capabilities to help the upstream and downstream development of the supply chain industry chain, becoming the new main body of rural revitalization.
The report focuses on the fact that new entity enterprises rely on strong digital technology capabilities to promote the digital and intelligent transformation of the industrial chain and supply chain, and make up for the "shortcomings" of rural revitalization with digital economy and digital technology, which has attracted widespread attention from the industry.
As an important representative of emerging entity enterprises, Jingdong Group proposed the "Penfold Plan" for rural revitalization in 2020, and completed the goal of "driving rural output value over one trillion yuan in three years" ahead of schedule by June 2023, through the use of artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, cloud computing, Internet of Things and other digital technologies, to build a rural industry service platform, promote the deep integration of digital and agricultural economy, and promote the integrated development of rural primary, secondary and tertiary industries.
The report also points out that new entities have special advantages in promoting technological innovation, actively reaching out to diversified market players, supporting agricultural operators to enter the digital ecosystem, providing applied services, and cultivating digital talents. In reality, a large number of typical cases of promoting rural revitalization in terms of industry, talent, culture, ecology, and organization have also emerged.
In this regard, the report has launched a total of 7 special topics and 5 case studies, including JD.com's practical cases of empowering rural revitalization through the digital economy in Xiuwen in Guizhou, Jiashi in Xinjiang, Horqin Right Banner in Inner Mongolia and Huichang County in Jiangxi.
Xiuwen County, Guizhou Province, ranks third in the country in terms of kiwifruit planting area. JD.com provided it with an integrated solution for production and marketing, helped the kiwifruit industry to achieve full-link digital operation, ensured product quality through traceability technology, and jointly developed a new product of "Ambrosi-Xiuwen Kiwifruit", which was not only deeply loved by consumers, but also further enhanced the brand value of Xiuwen Kiwifruit.
In Huichang County, Jiangxi Province, the local government and JD.com have built a digital platform for the "Smart Fruit Industry", a digital village brain cockpit for "Huichang Duhao" in Xiaomihua Township, a JD digital farm, and a quality traceability system for agricultural products, which have effectively improved the varieties of navel oranges (orange grapefruit) and increased the yield and added value.
The report believes that cultivating more new real enterprises will become an important measure to promote the development of the real economy. The "pioneers" of new entity enterprises represented by JD.com are also contributing wisdom and samples to other new entity enterprises through deeper, richer and more comprehensive industrial practices, and becoming a model for digital upgrading in related fields.
