At more than 2 o'clock in the morning on May 1, a landslide occurred in the direction of Meizhou to Fujian on the Meilong Expressway, resulting in a road surface about 10 meters long and about 5 meters wide instantly breaking and sinking, and 18 vehicles that were driving could not be stopped, and fell into the pit one after another.
The scene was a mess and miserable. After the disaster was reported quickly, the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government attached great importance to it and immediately instructed Meizhou to carry out rescue efforts. Meizhou City Public Security, Emergency Response, Fire Fighting, Medical and other rescue departments rushed to the scene and organized a rescue operation.
They risked their lives in hostile circumstances to carry out search and rescue. As the road leading to the collapsed section was blocked, rescuers had to take a long detour on foot, and the rain and mudslides along the way were getting heavier and worse.
