He uses a Critical BX500, 2.5-inch, SATA interface, Huirong SM2259XT2 main controller (also used SM2258XT), four Micron QLC flash memory, with a total capacity of 480GB (original flash memory capacity of 512GB).
The original serial number of the flash memory is NY240, which is crucial because not any QLC can be retrofitted.
He used the MPTools mass production tool that experts are familiar with, changed the flash serial number, flashed in the new firmware, and finally got an SLC SSD at the cost of reducing the capacity to a quarter to 120GB (the original flash memory capacity was 128GB).
After the retrofit, the 120GB SLC SSD has a staggering 4000TBW lifespan, which is about 30 times the lifespan before the retrofit!
Due to the bandwidth of the SATA 6Gbps interface, the read and write performance has basically not changed, and the maximum is still around 500MB/s, but the latency and access time have been significantly improved.
