The cultivation of the heart
My name is Lin Yue, and I grew up in a family full of books. His father was a historian and his mother was an entrepreneur with a passion for philanthropy. From a young age, I was taught by my parents to be gentle and elegant, but their way of raising was different from the traditional way of being knowledgeable. They pay more attention to inner cultivation, the kind of temperament and character that radiates from the inside out.
When I was a child, I used to follow my father into the dust of history and listen to him tell the stories of the ancients. Some of them are literati and scholars, and some are military generals and strategists, but no matter what their status, they all have one thing in common - that is, inner cultivation. This kind of cultivation is not manifested by external ornate ornamentation or knowledge, but by an internal, deep, and infective power.
My mother often took me to various charity activities, which made me feel the joy of helping others. She told me that true cultivation is not only about asking for oneself, but also about caring for others. Only when you genuinely care about and help others can you truly feel inner satisfaction and joy.
As I grew older, I gradually realized that true cultivation is not a superficial, formalized thing, but an internal quality that needs to be constantly cultivated and perfected. I began to pay more attention to my inner world and try to become kinder, sincere, and tolerant.
In college, I met a girl from the countryside named Xiaohui. Xiaohui is very different from us city children, she dresses modestly and does not speak and behave as well as us. But it was her simplicity, authenticity, and tenacity that struck me deeply.
Once, the school organized a fundraiser for children in poor areas. Many classmates only symbolically donated some money or goods, but Xiaohui took out a month's living expenses. She told us that she hopes that those children will have the opportunity to go to school and change their destiny like she did. At that moment, I deeply felt the kindness and greatness of Xiaohui's heart.
After graduating, I chose to teach in the mountains. The children there live in difficult conditions, but they have the purest hearts and the most sincere smiles. Every day, I live, learn, and play with them. Although the conditions were difficult, every time I saw the eyes of the children who were eager for knowledge, I felt that everything I did was worth it.
During my volunteer teaching days, I encountered many difficulties and challenges. Sometimes I get frustrated because of my children's mischievousness, and sometimes I feel helpless because of my poor teaching methods. But it was these difficulties and challenges that made me think more deeply about the true meaning of the word "cultivation".
I began to realize that true cultivation is not a high-end, unattainable quality, but something that we need to practice and improve in our daily lives. It requires a kind heart, a sincere attitude, and a tolerant mind. Only in this way can we be more harmonious and harmonious in dealing with others, and we can be more calm in the face of difficulties and challenges.
After the volunteer teaching, I returned to the city to continue my work. But no matter where I am, I always remember the experience of teaching in the mountains and the touching and inspiration that those children gave me. They made me understand what true cultivation is – that is, kindness, sincerity, and tolerance in the heart.
At work, I have met many different people and things. Sometimes I feel anxious because of the pressure of work, and sometimes I feel uneasy because of competition among colleagues. But every time I do this, I think of the experience of teaching in the mountains and the smiles of the children. They remind me to keep a good heart and a sincere attitude towards everything in life.
Over time, I became a great employee in the company. But more importantly, I became a kinder, more sincere, and more tolerant person. I began to pay more attention to the feelings and needs of others, began to cherish friendship and cooperation with others more, and began to participate more actively in various public welfare activities to help those in need.
Looking back on the past days, I deeply feel the growth and change in my heart. I am grateful to my parents for their education and care, Xiaohui and the children in the mountainous areas for their touching and inspiration, and those who have helped and supported me in my work. It was they who made me understand what true cultivation is—that is, kindness, sincerity, and tolerance in my heart. This kind of cultivation will accompany me for the rest of my life and become the most valuable treasure on my life path.
