After the mainland introduced a number of measures to benefit Taiwan, a poll was released on the island, and most of the people were willing to "defend Taiwan"

After the Kuomintang legislature caucus summoned Fu Laiqing to lead a delegation to visit the mainland, the mainland successively issued a number of policies benefiting Taiwan within a day. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the mainland announced that Fujian residents will be allowed to travel to Matsu, and after the resumption of direct maritime passenger flights between Pingtan and Taiwan, Fujian people will resume group tourism to Taiwan. Matsu Lianjiang County is also ready to welcome mainland tourists, requiring all departments to do a good job in arranging boat seats, routes, and travel agency planning to provide convenience for mainland tourists, which is undoubtedly a shot in the arm for Taiwan's bleak tourism industry.

In addition, the mainland immigration bureau also announced on the same day that it will launch six policies and measures for the entry and exit management of "convenience for the people and enterprises" from May 6, and 20 major cities in the mainland can apply for the reissuance of Taiwan travel permits online. The Fujian Provincial Government also held a press conference on the same day, in order to provide more convenience for Taiwan compatriots who come to Fujian to work and live, and launched a new batch of policies to benefit Taiwan, and further promote the construction of a demonstration zone for cross-strait integrated development in Fujian.

At the same time, Zhao Zenglian, deputy director of the General Administration of Customs of the mainland, said that the General Administration of Customs is willing to strengthen communication with the Kuomintang and relevant Taiwan departments on the resumption of the import of Taiwan's agricultural and fishery products on the basis of adhering to the "consensus of '92" and opposing "Taiwan independence." The mainland will resume the import of Taiwan's Wendan pomelo and other agricultural and fishery products to the mainland in accordance with regulations.

Within a day, the mainland issued four policies in favor of Taiwan, showing sufficient goodwill to Taiwan. The purpose is to ease the cross-strait situation and prevent the tense situation from eventually turning into a conflict. However, some Taiwanese people who have been brainwashed by the DPP do not seem to appreciate it and still regard the mainland as a "military threat".

After the mainland introduced a number of measures to benefit Taiwan, a poll was released on the island, and most of the people were willing to "defend Taiwan"

According to media reports on the island, the "Institute of Defense and Security" under Taiwan's defense department released a poll, and the people who were interviewed will randomly choose one of two versions, the first of which is "Do you support the extension of compulsory military service to one year?" and the second is "If you or your children are going to serve in the military, do you still support the extension of military service to one year?" In the first version of the survey, 57 per cent of the public "strongly agreed", another 26 per cent "somewhat agreed", and only 6 per cent said they "strongly disagreed". In the second version of the survey, 53% said they "strongly agreed", 25% "somewhat agreed", and 7% "strongly disagreed". In addition, 64 percent of respondents who support the extension of military service are willing to "stand up and defend Taiwan."

There is not much difference between the two versions of the survey results, which shows that even if they or their relatives are about to serve in the military, nearly 60 percent of the people are very supportive of extending military service, and most of them are willing to "defend Taiwan".

However, it should be noted that the topic of this poll was planned by the "Institute of Political, Military and Operational Concepts" under Taiwan's defense department and specializing in the study of the mainland, and it was not planned by some neutral organization. From the very beginning, the political bias of this poll was very serious, and presumably Taiwan's defense department also hid a lot of guiding options in it in order to achieve the result of "supporting the extension of military service" among the people. There is little credibility in the results of such polls.

It can also be seen from this aspect that even though the mainland has shown goodwill toward Taiwan, the DPP authorities still have a hostile and confrontational attitude toward the mainland. The DPP can say that the mainland's opening up of the import of Wendan pomelo from the Taiwan region is a "cognitive warfare," which shows that they do not care about the interests of the Taiwan people at all for the sake of their own political interests. As far as the DPP is concerned, if Taiwan's young people can stay in the barracks for a longer period of time, it will be easier for them to develop a sense of confrontation against the mainland, and this will be beneficial to the DPP's rule.

However, for Taiwan's young people, it is not so good in the barracks, because the DPP's perverse actions have led to tensions between the two sides of the strait, and Taiwan's young soldiers live in tension and fear all day long. Although some people do want to "defend Taiwan," if the flames of war really ignite, this group of people may run faster than anyone else.
