In 2021, China Mobile originally proposed a new concept of "computing power network". The first is to build a computing network infrastructure system, the second is to build a key technology system for computing networks, and the third is to build a computing network product and service system.
By the end of 2023, China Mobile has built an intelligent computing scale of 10.1 EFLOPS (FP16), accounting for 4.8% of the country's total computing power, and has systematically built a "1520" three-level latency circle (20ms nationally, about 5ms at the provincial level, and 1ms at the prefectural and municipal levels), with an inter-provincial backbone transmission network service bandwidth of more than 1000Tbps, and systematically built a "Kyushu" integrated computing power intelligent network system to comprehensively build a leading edge in computing power optical network and computing power Internet.
At present, China Mobile has initially built a computing power network with comprehensive leading infrastructure, technical capabilities and product services, and has put into operation the first batch of 12 intelligent computing center nodes in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Chengdu-Chongqing, Guizhou, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Heilongjiang, Hubei, Shandong, etc., with a computing power scale of 11EFLOPS. We have successfully completed the established goal of the 1.0-ubiquitous collaboration stage of the computing network, and are fully launching the 2.0-integration and unification work, accelerating towards the new stage of 3.0-one endogenous, and establishing the new goal of "diversified computing power, integrated computing network, and global AI" computing network.
Yang Jie, Chairman of China Mobile, pointed out in his keynote speech at the main forum of the 2024 China Mobile Computing Network Conference that the computing network is lighting up a more brilliant AI era, and in the face of the new situation and new requirements, China Mobile bravely assumes the role of a pioneer and vanguard in the development of new quality productivity, anchors the positioning of "a world-class information service technology innovation company", and insists on driving its own transformation and leading industrial development with innovation. To this end, it is clearly proposed to build a computing power network with computing as the center, network as the foundation, intelligence as the engine, and the deep integration of various information technologies to provide integrated services.
Yang Jie said that China Mobile will accelerate the computing network to a new stage of computing network 3.0, deepen the new "ULTRA" features of the computing network that is "diversified and ubiquitous, intelligent and agile, rich and easy to use, safe and reliable, green and low-carbon", and accelerate the large-scale deployment and wide application of computing power networks.
First, we need to build a new layout of "diversified ubiquitous" and improve the comprehensive supply level of computing networks. Second, build a new center of "intelligent and agile" and build the core advantages of the computing network brain. Third, we need to build new services that are "rich and easy to use" to support the development of "artificial intelligence+". In 2023, the revenue of mobile cloud will exceed 80 billion yuan, an increase of 40 times in four years, and its comprehensive strength will rank first among domestic cloud service providers.
Yang Jie emphasized that in this process, China Mobile has completed the leapfrog development from "cloud to computing", and the computing power network has become the core driving force to promote the company's transformation and upgrading and achieve high-quality and sustainable development.
The field of intelligent computing is also the main battlefield for the growth of cloud computing in the future. As the main entrance of China Mobile's cloud-related business, China Mobile Cloud is gradually building its own characteristic intelligent computing product system, enhancing its characteristic model-as-a-service (MaaS) capabilities, and continuously strengthening the construction of intelligent computing infrastructure. At present, a variety of capabilities have been output, forming a full-stack, independent and controllable, industry-leading intelligent computing center architecture.
By increasing innovation and overcoming high-end technical problems, mobile cloud has become a pioneer in the development of new quality productivity. China Mobile Cloud adheres to independent research and development of core products, and has applied for more than 1,350 patents, more than 230 self-developed products, obtained more than 80 trusted cloud certifications, and participated in the formulation of more than 20 national and industry standards. The innovative achievements of mobile cloud, such as the "big cloud" operating system, the "mobile cloud technology kernel 3.0", and the COCA software and hardware integrated computing architecture on chip, have led to breakthroughs in key core technologies in the field of cloud computing.
In addition, the Dayun Panshi DPU chip was officially released, which was jointly developed and designed by China Mobile and the ecological chain, with a rate of 400Gbps, doubling the maximum transmission rate of the domestic DPU chip, and will be applied to the new generation of Dayun Panshi DPU products of the mobile cloud to achieve independent and controllable key technologies.
