On the afternoon of April 28, Xi'an's 2024 "Little Light Group" Sunshine Disability Volunteer Service Series launched the second phase of the "Handicraft Workshop for the Disabled at the Doorstep" community disability assistance service. In the activity, young volunteers and disabled members collaborated on balloon bouquets in groups to enhance the concentration and hands-on ability of the disabled group, so as to tap their own beauty and unlimited potential, enhance self-confidence and cohesion, expand flexible employment directions, and encourage young volunteers to contribute their youth strength to the service of helping the disabled.
The event was hosted by the Xi'an Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League, and organized by the Xi'an Youth Volunteer Action Guidance Center, the Yanta District Disability Service Center for the Disabled, and the Xi'an "Public Welfare Xi'an" column.
At the beginning of the activity, Wenjuan, a social worker from Ducheng, led the young volunteers to play a game of "Wind Blowing" with the disabled members, and everyone started from being shy and not talking to taking the initiative to share, and encouraged the disabled members to actively participate and introduce themselves step by step.
Immediately, the instructor introduced the operation process and production skills of balloon bouquets to the participants, as well as flexible employment paths. Take out the colorful balloons prepared in advance, while explaining how to control the balloons and gestures, while slowly operating the demonstration for everyone to see, the inflated balloons in the hand constantly twist, knot, twist, rotate, until the petals are conjured, and then with the bow, a bouquet of balloons is completed. After seeing it, everyone praised it again and again, and their interest suddenly rose, and they were eager to try it one by one.
With the assistance of volunteers, the disabled friends tried to make balloon flowers, and everyone used their imagination to pinch the balloons into bouquets of different shapes, and the balloon flowers were lifelike.
Liu Yuming, a young volunteer, said: "I used to see beautiful balloon decorations at the event site, so I wanted to learn how to make balloon flowers, and the first time I made them with disabled members, I felt that I had to be careful, careful and patient enough, and finally when I saw the finished products made by themselves, I felt very accomplished and beautiful!"
In the next step, the "Little Light Group" Xi'an Sunshine Disability Service Series will continue to mobilize social forces to participate in disability assistance services, further enhance the spiritual and cultural needs and cultural self-confidence of the disabled group, actively participate in public cultural life, improve the adaptability of employment and social life, and promote the high-quality development of Sunshine Disability Volunteer Service in our city.
