CCTV News: On April 28, the 12th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo came to a successful conclusion. A number of guests said that in the 25 years since Macao's return to the motherland, Macao's tourism industry has achieved leapfrog development and they are full of confidence in its future development.
This year's MITE attracted 668 exhibitors from 54 countries and regions, covering tourism, cultural museums, research, gastronomy and merchandise exhibitions. The three-day MITE facilitated the signing of more than 50 cooperation projects, effectively promoting the cooperation and development of cultural tourism and related industries at home and abroad.
MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said that the number of visitors to Macao has increased from more than 7 million in 1999 to 39.4 million in 2019. This year, the number of tourists in Macao can exceed 33 million.
The Chairman of the Travel Industry Council of Macau, Mr Wu King Kong, said that the whole atmosphere of this year's MITE was very lively, with many tourism bureaus from mainland cities and foreign countries coming to Macao to promote their tourist attractions. Hu Jingguang is full of confidence in the future development of Macao's tourism industry.
