Today (April 30), Suzhou will usher in strong winds + rain + cooling again!
The Municipal Meteorological Observatory released an early gale report today, with a northeast wind of 4~5 in Suzhou, which gradually strengthened to 5 gusts of 6~7 and 8 on the water surface in the afternoon.
It is expected that there will be moderate to heavy rain in our city today (April 30), and the wind will be strong. During the May Day holiday, the weather will be fine from May 1 to 3, the temperature will be suitable, and the meteorological conditions will be suitable for tourism and outdoor activities; There will be significant rain on the 4th and 5th, please pay close attention to the weather changes, and pay special attention to the safety of the return trip.
Weather today and tomorrow
Today, the rain in Jiangnan, South China and other places continues, and strong convective weather is frequent, so heavy that the scope of heavy rain will be transferred to Zhejiang, Fujian, and Guangdong. With the arrival of cold air, the temperature in the central and eastern parts of the continent continues to decline from north to south. At present, Suzhou still has a lot of precipitation this week, and the main precipitation process occurred during the day today and from the night of May 4 to 5, and the temperature fluctuated.
Today is cloudy with moderate to heavy rain during the day, and the showers gradually stop and turn cloudy at night, with a minimum temperature of around 13°C and a daytime high of around 16°C. The northeast wind is 4~5, and it will gradually strengthen to 5 this afternoon, with gusts of 6~7 and 8 on the water surface. It is expected to be sunny to cloudy tomorrow, and the temperature will be between 11°C~21°C. Suzhou's air quality during the day today is excellent.
Why is extreme weather so frequent in recent days?
In recent days, snowfall has fallen in the north on one side and rain in the south on the other, and cold and warm air masses have clashed, and rain and snow are in the same frame. Experts explain that the snowfall in the north is the result of the combined action of cold air and cold vortex moving southward, while the rain in the south is related to the strong warm and humid airflow and the subtropical high pressure.
So why are the warm and humid airflows and the subtropical high so strong this time? It may have something to do with the El Niño phenomenon. In April this year, the El Niño phenomenon weakened but continued, which may have indirectly contributed to the unusually strong and persistent warm and humid airflow and the subtropical high. The continuation of future weather phenomena depends on the development trend of westerly wind belts and El Niño phenomena.
Emergency science
Severe convective weather refers to the occurrence of sudden, violent, and extremely destructive weather, often accompanied by thunderstorms, strong winds, hail, tornadoes, localized heavy rainfall, etc.
When and where does severe convective weather usually occur, and how to avoid danger?
How to prevent extreme weather before it comes, and what to do when it comes, come and see the picture to master.
