As the current director of the Shanzhou Forest Farm Forest Police Station of the Shidian County Public Security Bureau, Yang Kang came to work here in 2018 and is an apprentice led by Yang Shaohong. One of the things that Yang Kang remembers most about his master is: one morning in July 2018, Yang Shaohong was on duty in the forest area and suddenly fell ill, unable to speak, half of him was unconscious, Yang Kang urgently sent the master to the county hospital, and later learned that the master had a sudden cerebral infarction. Half a month later, Yang Shaohong returned to work at the police station as soon as he was discharged from the hospital. Yang Kang followed the footsteps of his master, and also took root in Shanzhou Forest Farm, and took his comrades to carry out 1,246 forest patrols in the three years after taking office, striving for 200,000 yuan of special funds for the protection of more than 470 ancient and famous trees, and rescuing 26 wild animals, so as to ensure that there were no forest-related criminal cases and fire accidents in the forest farm and surrounding areas.

Most of the comrades in the forest police station are post-80s, young and motivated. Every day, they have to carry nearly 20 pounds of police equipment on their backs to patrol the forest area on foot, and tens of thousands of steps of WeChat sports are commonplace.
It is not easy to arrange the police on duty in the station, and scientific and technological inspection equipment has been set up in important areas of the forest farm, and it is necessary to carry out visual management of the forest area. Various mass prevention and control forces have played a key role in carrying out special lectures on the protection of ecological resources, forest fire safety, and the prevention of telecommunication network fraud. In the past three years, the Shanzhou Forest Farm Forest Police Station has investigated and resolved 12 contradictions and disputes, handed over 4 clues of violations and crimes, investigated and rectified 15 risks and hidden dangers, and the effective police intelligence of the surrounding village groups has decreased by 20% year-on-year, and the electric fraud has achieved "zero cases", and the entire forest area has maintained zero fire accidents for 10 years.

When Yang Shaohong went up the mountain, it was in the early stage of the construction of the forest farm, the water circuit was not connected, and the house was just a shed made of tree branches and oil film. In 2006, when the case of illegal logging was particularly prominent, Yang Shaohong and his colleagues often got up in the middle of the night to handle the case, and went to the forest for two or three days in a row to squat in the forest, and finally more than 50 charcoal kilns were destroyed, completely banning the destruction of forests and burning charcoal.

In June 2023, a man suspected of poaching appeared in the forest area at 4 a.m., but was discovered by the police on duty in a flash, and the police station set off overnight to rush to the scene and seized him in time. In recent years, the Shanzhou Forest Farm Forest Police Station has cooperated with the local public security police station to carry out the collection of hunting rifles on a regular basis, and at the same time, through publicity, the masses have established a legal awareness of prohibiting poaching.
Yang Kang said that the older generation worked hard to cultivate forests, and our generation must protect this precious wealth. Now, the Shanzhou Forest Farm Forest Police Station has put forward the concept of forest ecological protection circle management, systematic command, and grid protection, and 8 of the 10 police officers have been stationed in 4 police rooms to implement the package responsibility system to extend the management contact. Adopt a hierarchical responsibility model in which the field chief and director are the first level, the people's police and forest farm workers are the second level, and the auxiliary police and ecological rangers are the third level, and "sentry posts" are set up at the major mountain entrances to completely prohibit fire from entering the mountain and reduce the incidence of fires.

In addition to routine patrol prevention and control, investigation and blocking of cards, publicity and investigation, forest fire prevention and forest safety have become the main topics that must be talked about at every meeting of household heads and mass meetings held by the village group of the police station.
