A few days ago, the Shenzhou-17 and Shenzhou-18 astronaut crews held handover ceremonies in orbit, and the two crews handed over the keys to China's space station.

It is reported that the three astronauts Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin of the Shenzhou-17 crew will be stationed at the Chinese space station on October 26, 2023, and have been in orbit for about 6 months.

During this period, Shenzhou 17 ushered in the Tianzhou 7 cargo spacecraft, and the crew completed two out-of-cabin activities.

On March 2 this year, the astronauts completed the maintenance of the extravehicular facilities of the spacecraft in orbit for the first time.

During their stay in orbit, the Shen-17 crew carried out a total of 84 on-orbit experiments on space applications, generating more than 200 samples of more than 60 types, involving space life science and biotechnology, aerospace medicine, space materials science and other fields.

In close collaboration with ground researchers, the first batch of extravehicular exposure experimental material samples were retrieved, and the first batch of material exposure samples included non-metal and metal, with a total of 407 pieces.

These samples were disassembled and stored by the astronauts, and returned to the ground with the astronauts and the Shenzhou spacecraft, where they were handed over to scientists for further ground research.
