On 29 April, Chelsea FC officially confirmed that 39-year-old veteran Thiago Silva will leave the club at the end of the season, ending his four-year Blues career.
In his farewell video, Silva said Chelsea meant a lot to him and his family, and that he had planned to spend a year at Chelsea, but he ended up staying for four years.
Thiago Silva says he has given it his all in everything he has done over the course of four years. But unfortunately, everything has a beginning and an end to the process. But that doesn't mean a definite end, and I hope to be able to leave a door so that in the near future I can come back and take on another role at the club.
In the summer of 2020, Thiago Silva ended his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and joined Chelsea on a free transfer. In his four seasons with the club, Silva played a total of 151 games, winning one Champions League, one Club World Cup and one UEFA Super Cup.
It is reported that Thiago Silva has effectively ended the final game of his Blues career due to a groin injury sustained against Villa.
Despite turning 40 in September, Thiago Silva has no plans to hang up his boots and retire, with AC Milan being one of the possible options, as he could return to his former club Fluminense or stay in Europe.
