Ouyang Zhongshi (October 1928 – November 5, 2020), a contemporary Chinese calligrapher, educator, calligraphy theorist, and Peking Opera artist, graduated from Peking University in 1954 and was selected as the "People's Favorite Artist" for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in 2009. Mr. Ouyang Zhongshi has been teaching and educating people for more than half a century, and he has taken the lead in establishing a calligraphy education system from calligraphy specialists to master's, doctoral, and postdoctoral degrees at Capital Normal University, filling the gap in China's higher calligraphy education and making outstanding contributions. Although he won the "Chinese Calligraphy Pavilion Award - Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2006, he still adheres to his four personal principles: "no solo exhibition, no biography, no museum, no praise or disparagement".
